Mal lands in this week's Geek6. Our captain makes it in as one of the top science fiction characters out there. He also makes it onto Movie Retrieval's list of ten character origin stories they'd like to see on film.

I've added pollyprissypants' entry to this one. Makes more sense to keep the' Mal features in this list' items all in one place. Also saves space on the front page.
Makes sense to me! Thanks, Simon :)
Regarding the comments attached to Mal's entry in the latter link, has there ever been a drive to fan-fund a Serenity 2? I'm a browncoat from late 2006, so I don't really know the storied history of post-Serenity efforts, Done the Impossible aside.
I recall there being a site set up a while ago asking who would be willing to help fund a subscribe-to season of Firefly. That kind of faded away, though, so I assume they didn't get enough people willing to make it a viable option for anyone.
What a sweet tribute: "From the moment I saw him order a glass of ng-ka-pei in ”The Train Job” to the last time he expressed shock when a buffer panel flew off his ship in the big-screen Serenity, I was hooked."

I know there was talk and more talk, but I think the numbers got the best of the fans. There's a fan movie finishing shooting this summer.

A Browncoat started a website, collected a bunch of money and a person from the entertainment industry contacted said Browncoat and explained that Hollywood is afraid of fan-funded stuff and the effort might actually scare Hollywood away from Joss. Said Browncoat refunded all the money.

This was before the strike. This was all before Joss made Dr. Horrible with his own money. Joss has since said he is interested in announcing a product with an actor and setting the budget by pre-order. He also wrote about donations etc since the Guild was started with self-funding and donations.

Joss is boss. He knows how to reach us. We hold til Mal gets back.
It's just an excuse for Fillion to get naked again.
