Summer was there - just not in that particular talk.

Between this, a couple of performances from Uke Box Heroes and the invasion of Subway, it really was the most amazing convention.

Plus we got Tom Lenk as a surprise guest.

All three girls were extremely graceful and we were totally spoilt over the whole weekend :)

And Chris, Miracle's fiance was wonderful too!

Chris was amazing. I'm just doing a report on the convention, it was easily the best fan event I've ever been to, and that was entirely down to the guests.

For the record, this was from the Starfury con in the UK this past weekend. Seeing this makes me wish I could afford the cash to be there..or at least see a Uke Box Heroes gig.
It may also mean Joss could remake Blue Hawaii if he can get Nathan Fillion in the Elvis role.

Anyone know Miracle Laurie's connection, if any, to Hawaii? Having lived in Hawaii myself for many years and loving the hula something mighty, I gotta say, it's brilliant to see hula and the Whedonverse collide.

That video is a treasure. It's so much fun to watch Felicia and Sierra trying to keep up with Miracle. Hee! And it's very pretty when Miracle sings a bit throughout - she's so very graceful.

But I'm wondering if someone can explain to me why places like T1 and DragonCon can get guests like this, while WizardWorld Chicago (the third biggest city in the country) has no one. I don't understand this. Joss hasn't been there in years, I saw Amber Benson there probably 5 years ago or longer, and since then -- zip. Their guest list sucks.

Now this brought a smile to my face after what became a very bad day (sister lost her job today, one week after she had to put her 14yo daughter in a psychiatric hospital because she is bipolar). This is a small bit of solace.

Dana5140 I'm so sorry to hear that. A friend of mine when I was an undergraduate was also hospitalised with bipolar disorder and he has subsequently learnt to live with it and is a successful academic, husband and father. He was medicated very heavily for some time, but later coped with much lighter medication. I hope that is some consolation to you, even though I understand how terrifying this must be for you. My thoughts are with you.

QuoterGal, I wouldn't hold your breath waiting for video of Tom - the fact is, you're not actually supposed to film during the talks and there's been a fair bit of trouble after some (non Whedon) events when clips have surfaced.

Also, Tom had to leave early on the Sunday so he was only able to do autos and no talks that day - but we were thrilled to have him there for the Friday/Saturday.

Search for Gossi on flickr - now that seems a little too much on the stalkery side for me. And I had to restraint myself from asking for his auto at the weekend ;)

Video is prohibited at Starfury cons but I'm not surprised someone got this out. I'll be putting together my con report and photos soon, after I float over to check out Gossi's report.

Anyone know Miracle Laurie's connection, if any, to Hawaii?

I can't recall if she said much other than she'd been doing this since she was four (irrc?) Felicia then laughingly suggested that she do some now for everyone and she and Dichen would dance in the background. Miracle immediately said "ok why don't we?"

My friend has the Q&A transcript notes - in shorthand so I can't check.

Checking in from Hawaii. Miracle obviously knows Hula, although I'm sure she would have done a much job without the high-heeled boots. But Felicia and Dichen were just hysterical. ;)

I almost asked myself for my own autograph at the weekend. :P I have to admit, when Dichen asked me about my cooking in front of everybody at the first Q&A, I realised things had gotten a bit weird. The weekend was capped by Felicia Day ballet dancing me with on stage at 2am, if anybody recalls, which is - well - no less weird I suppose.

Seriously, though - the convention was amazing for me and many of the attendees I suspect and Sean Harry deserves credit. People might like to rip his conventions online, but they really are the kind where if you go in determined to have fun, you will.

Very true, Sean did a great job with this one. I thought the guests all seemed very relaxed at this one to be honest- plus I think most were staying at the same hotel. And Damn, I missed the ballet I think I must have been a-kip. Can someone please put that video online?

You're not going to get video from the party - not unless one of the guests filmed it and posts it somewhere. That's a big no - video and cameras are banned from the evening events so the guests can feel more relaxed. It actually made a refreshing change to see so many of the guests out on the dance floor and really enjoying themselves.

I have to say though, Felicia sure can spin!

Miracle has some moves! I love that she showed up the stick girls (no offense, LOVE Felicia Day and Dichen) but I'm happy for us not so skinny but not fat girls. Yay!

Man I wish I went to this. I'm so glad it was a lot of fun! Maybe next year. And that Hula clip was wonderful. I loved how Chris (?) told Felicia & Dichen not to hurt themselves while providing back-up. :)
