Ausiello Files upgrades Dollhouse's renewal prospects. Dollhouse's status on his cheat sheet is changed from "long shot" to "prospects brightening".

It's debatable whether he actually knows anything newsworthy, or is merely reflecting the general trend of recent articles towards cautious optimism regarding the show.

Sorry if this isn't worth posting; I was kinda' jazzed, even if such a small improvement might not mean much.
Nice to hear either way :)

So they decide today for sure, don't they? Jeepers.
We may not hear anything till Monday. It sucks for the cast and crew that they have to wait till the very last minute to find out if they're employed for another season .
If there isn't an announcement out today, it's probably not a good sign. As what could they present at the upfronts? Joss morris dancing? (I'd buy that for a dollar).
Of course, Ausiello's update could be nothing new, and just him reflecting the increased chatter we've already been chattering about for the past two days.
Is it bad news for Dollhouse if Fox has ordered Brothers?
Anybody know something about TV journalist Micheal Schneider? Last tweet:

Latest TV pilot buzz: Fox picked up the sitcom "Brothers," w/ Michael Strahan and Darryl Chill Mitchell; and "Dollhouse" will likely return.

Nope. (To Simon).

wiesengrund, he works for Variety.
So, credibility ... "not so bad"? :)
So that means he's all... trustworthy and stuff, right?

Sorry, trying to keep hopes down again.
Hooray, for the upgrade. But I'm trying to keep my hopes down.

P.S. Is it sad if I created Dollhouse lookalikes on the Sims 2 just to make my own little stories...?
And why is there a screening of "Epitaph One" on the Fox lot tonight? They're not making some kind of party, aren't they?
wiesengrund, it's common to screen things internally to staff. However - speculation only - FOX are also currently screening shows for upfront purposes, so..
Getting genuinely hopeful now. Feels good. And odd.
As what could they present at the upfronts?

I have no idea what they normally show, but clips of "Epitaph One" if they need something exciting and new?

Yes hope feels weird. I don't trust it! It's too pleasant.
THR is also saying "leaning toward renewal".

A “Dollhouse” pickup would be stunning, and tough to explain. Maybe Fox executives are just sick of being vilified on Whedonesque.com. Maybe Fox entertainment president Kevin Reilly, who wisely renewed “The Office” at NBC after a disastrous first season, knows something we don’t.

:)
Beat me to it wiesengrund! Sounds like good news except we possibly won't know today!
"but as of Friday morning ... the rough draft plan of Fox's fall includes Joss Whedon's show. " - Hollywood Reporter.
Upgraded from a triple sell to "don't buy"?
I need to stop reading all this stuff, and go into media blackout mode until Montag.
The little show that could...
Hopes, no! What have I told you about spilling over into ebulliance?! It's too soon!
Litwal, it might be announced today. I think we could well find out in a few hours time.
Thanks, gossi. If I were sitting any closer to the edge of my seat, I'd fall off...
Well slap my buns and call me Harry. A couple of months ago I would have bet my entire life savings against Dollhouse being renewed. I'm glad I didn't.
Yeah, this is plenty tense. Let's hope for the best.
This kind of stuff is making it really hard for me to keep my expectations down.

They seriously just need to announce it one way or the other today when the decision is made, or atleast let it "leak." That way we don't all have to spend the weekend biting our nails.
Eeek. Umh, like someone said hope feels weird. Don't want it, cause it hurts when it's crushed. :( XD

Let me be pessimistic like always please. lol.
"Litwal, it might be announced today. I think we could well find out in a few hours time."

Well thanks gossi!

Now I am just going to sit here pressing f5 all day.
This is chilling...
I'm keeping my fingers crossed.
Can't believe I have to work tonight! I really just want to stay glued to my computer!
Maybe Fox executives are just sick of being vilified on Whedonesque.com.

It's Whedonesque Wot Won It?
Caroline, how is Whedonesque fixed for bandwidth? I can see a busy few hours whatever way they decide....
Shouldn't we have a proper thread for the THR news? That seems pretty huge.
Heh. I have to admit, the atmosphere here for many months of FOX being this Big Bad who were desperately trying to cancel and screw Dollhouse at every turn has been funny. 'cos, not true. If they didn't want the show on the air, they wouldn't have kept the sets up all this time and being negging for another season.

This thread has kinda become the Dollhouse Renewal Watch for Friday. :)
@zz9 Bandwidth is fine. It's CPU on the server we get taxed on, but so far overcharges have been minimal.

FYI none of the downtime we've experienced since we moved to MediaTemple has been due to our site. (On Pair.com we regularly got shut down completely for hogging CPU.)

Whenever we have webbychat our CPU usage spikes, so I'm only going to use it quite sparingly.

Aye so I've made the Live Feed news a separate item.
Maybe Fox should just televise their board meetings and discussions? Think of the ratings that would get!

That's a reality show I would watch.

Thanks Caroline. I was joking, but then the more I thought about it the more I actually worried. :)

The suspense is terrible! but a little fun :)

I remember you telling us that the ratings for "The Target" will determine the fate of the show and that Fox will desperately want to decide it then because of the sets. Ah, those were the days. :)

No, I always thought that Fox handled the show decently during it's run. More promo and better lead-ins would have been better, of course, but the whole situation now just proves that Fox knew that Friday means ratings wasteland and that Dollhouse needed to find it's audience differently. And apparently, it kinda worked.
Well now I'm confused which thread to follow. Heh.
Yeah, me too.
Seriously, if this renewal happens, I take back every bad thing I've ever said about Fox. This really would be an amazing move by them.

Honestly, can anyone think of any other show that looked as dead as Dollhouse did a few weeks ago still even being in the game at this point? I'm trying not to get my hopes up too high, because I don't want them shattered, but all these positive articles are making it hard. I just want to know already!
Gah... now I'm really really hopeful and excited. I really don't want to see these hopes dashed. Hope my e-mail to askfox helped.

Really want to find out today either way, I can't wait all weekend for the news.
Please, please, please, please, please, please, please, pleeeeeeease, PTBs!

*best puppy dog eyes*
OK, I should have stayed right out of this thread. I've been optimistic all along, but now I'm actually feeling confident. It's not a good feeling, cause the fall from here could kill me.
(And on a Filliony note, looks like things are looking up for Castle, too -- hurrah!)
Guess we're getting a bit restless for the Fox announcement on Monday.
