Film Snobbery interviews the Master, Mark Metcalf. "I think because Buffy was a new show with nothing but the talent making it to back it up there was more of a hungry and creative feeling about the set."

I think we should all thank Mark Metcalf for The Master. He established the tradition of the Big Bad, and set a very high bar.
He sounds so cool! And yes, wonderful, wonderful Big Bad. Not easy to be creepy and funny without the funny diminishing the creep.
How soon Whedonites forget this man was Douglas C. Neidermeyer! The man was a legend (and a legendary baddie at that) long before he put on bat-faced latex.

"You're all worthless and weak! Now drop and give me twenty!"

It's nice hearing from him.

But what did he do in betwenn :-)? (just rhetorical snark, not seriously questioning MArk's career; not that I'm especially fmailiar with Animal House anyway)
