(SPOILER) David Messina interview and Angel comic previews. There's a David Messina interview, an "Angel: Only Human" cover, a whole bunch of full color "Only Human" pages, B&W covers and pages from previously published stuff and our first look at Ediie Hope (A character design page and a full color pin-up).

Fantastic interview and some great looking art from Messina. I am super excited about Only Human and Eddie's character design is just really cool looking. Next few months should be good for Angel.
Hmm. I like the idea that Eddie will be developed separately. I'm sure it will help not having to be in the shadow of other, well-established characters in the Angelverse at first. Here's to hoping it works out! Speaking of out, I wonder if Eddie will be the first long-term out gay male character in the Buffyverse. A man can dream...
Just as long as he doesn't become the Angelverse's Poochie. The fandom is somewhat ambivalent/borderline hostile to new characters being introduced into the comics.
those pages sold me. that was some good looking stuff.
Great interview and loved the preview pages.
Eddie Hope at least looks cool. Let's hope he's got an interesting personality as well.
Which new comic-introduced characters have the fandom generally not liked ? I've heard that some of the newbies in "Aftermath" were unwelcome, but then you look at Buffy Season 8 and everyone seemed to have appreciated Renae. Satsu's reception was mostly warm too, no ?

Did people who hadn't read Spike: Asylum like Betta George ? Maybe not right away, but once "After the Fall" concluded ? There's a lot the comic gets away with that I can't see working on screen, even with a bigger budget for effects (or he could've been a puppet).
Spider, Satsu, the new characters from Aftermath.
Congrats on the interview Pat. Very interesting. I love Messina's work. Cant wait to read all these.

I'm leaning toward ambivalent myself. I'll give it a chance but I'm not exicited about it.
There's a new write-up of IDW's panel at Comicbookresources, with new details about the main Angel comic and Spike's spinoff series:

Spider was odd and went unexplained for a good long while(why she spoke that way, what she was supposed to be), but such a non-entity, barely there in the comics to a degree that she just didn't bother me. Just one out of Spike's entourage that happened to get named. The only people I can see getting annoyed at her are overprotective Spike fangirls (I dunno why though, 'cause despite being capable of attachment, he's shown himself to be a horndog a lot of the time too--witness banging Harmony as soon as he's corporeal in Angel Season 5--so random demon fling isn't surprising).
