I'm a little befuzzled... If Summer is a character they come to in order to celebrate National Hamburger Day, does that imply that Summer will only be in the Pilot?

Silly me, I've been using too much logic as of late; gotta cut down. ;)

If I were a smart, savvy Producer, I would put Summer in a Series Adaptation of the Ballet film "The Turning Point", which starred Shirley MacClain and Anne Bancroft, with some of Ballet's top stars. Or I'd be Joss and make "Serenity: The Series", which is even more smart and savvy. :P

Does anyone know an example of an independently produced pilot actually, you know, getting picked up in the last couple years? I know I sound kind of Debbie downer, but I don't think this will ever see the light of day if it is independently produced. Maybe as a web series it will work.

As far as I have been able to tell, that's certainly how it would seem (and I've been following this project very closely for some time now) unless - and I'm speculating here - Good Morning Rabbit is planned to have a stock supporting cast (like the show Wishbone for example) where each actor - excepting the leads, of course - appears in nearly every episode, but as a totally different character depending upon each episode's storyline (essentially the same casting methodology used by theater companies since time immemorial.) Given the general surreal-sounding premise of this show, I wouldn't be surprised at all if this were the case.

Is Party Down independent? The only production company listed is Slaverats, which is Rob Thomas's thing. I haven't watched it yet, so I don't know what kind of production values it has.

hacksaway, that's the first thing that came to my mind. Rob filmed the original pilot presentation in his backyard and shopped it around to networks for over a year, I think, before Starz bit.

brinderwalt, that's an idea! I'm not sure that's how it would work, but I wouldn't be surprised if Summer's character appeared in other episodes.
