(SPOILER) Summer Glau in the House. According to Dollverse. And there's more details about her character over at HitFix.com.

Summer! (say it in your best Nathan voice).
More Summer is a very good thing. Like more butter, except healthier.
Summer is not like more butter, since she is made of chocolate. No, wait, that was River. I don't know what Summer is made of.
Of course. This was part of Joss Whedon's evil plan to steal Summer back from Josh Friedman. He was so jealous of Mr. Friedman that he created a television show on Fox, knowing it will get the same ratings as T:SCC forcing the network to make a decision between his show and T:SCC. He choose to work with the 20th Century Fox because that would make it easier for the Network to chose his show. And now, she's working with Joss again. It's like pour salt in the wounds. Why is working on the show that was the reason for T:SCC's cancellation is beyond me. This is Summer's kick the dog moment for me.

I'm mad. And I'm going to show my anger by watching my Dollhouse DVDs.
So very happy that this worked out. Just don't kill her Joss (unless the story really demands it and then we will be upset and weepy, but we'll understand and go through a long vocal grieving process and then get over it eventually, maybe, sort of).

Summer!
Maybe Summer can become a regular if her pilot doesn't work out...ok I didn't say that shhh! lol
Yay, a little bit of Summer in the autumn never hurts (and large-scale trials have shown a lot of Summer actively reduces pain like symptoms).
Now comes all the speculation about what her doll name will be, despite everybody knowing she won't be a doll.
"Harold".

Wait, that'd be an imprint name, not a doll name.

Good try but it's more "Harrollllddddd !".

Now comes all the speculation about what her doll name will be, despite everybody knowing she won't be a doll.

And also knowing her character's name is Bennett.

That said, I vote 'Tango', cos you know when you've been Summer-ed.

Wait, I did that wrong.

I hope we meet Golf and X-ray.
I recall Joss saying that he didn't want her to play a Doll. Otherwise we'll be getting into Heroes territory, "gosh you have powers too?".
I call that the Fish Boy effect, for people who've seen Heroes season three.
People have actually seen Heroes season three?
I did a podcast about every. Single. Episode.
People have actually seen Heroes season three?

Isn't that the joke about Dollhouse?
I saw Heroes season three, but then I wish I hadn't. Seriously I was quoting Eliza, "Did I fall asleep?" *yawn*

Yay for Summer! Is it just me or does it sound like she could come back after these 2 episodes? :D
She's a reoccuring. So you never know.
Awesome. Do you know anything more about her character gossi?
HitFix has more spoilers for her character.
Little bit. Not saying as don't want to spoil. It's really cool, though.
Thanks for the link b!x :) It sounds very intriguing indeed.

I understand gossi :)
Summer Glau's character name on Dollhouse is supposed to be Bennet? As in Noah or Claire? I smell false info.
Yay Summer! I'm loving all these Whedon actor guest spots. It's making me happy.
It's making me happy, too. But it feels like it's approaching a tipping point, somehow. Maybe there should be a hiatus until next season. Except for Jewel Staite.
She had better be an active... I swear.
She's not an Active.
I added the HitFix link to the entry.
I watched Heroes season 3 through to the end, because it kept on being just interesting enough to show hints of going back to being cool. I actually did enjoy the way the season ended, but its overall appeal was barely sufficient to keep me coming back.

Also, Summer! I want Dollhouse to transition into more Firefly, with every cast member coming back from other shows that Joss makes fail, as per crazygolfa's insight. Big reveal: the cataclysmic event that forces humanity into space is Topher's robo-call!
They made a season 3 of 'Heroes' ? Didn't they see season 2 ?

Foxtrot is the name I most want to appear mainly because there has to be a "Foxtrot Alpha' joke in there somewhere. If Sierra was involved somehow it'd be even Sweeter.
I watched Season 3 of Heroes & I'll be watching Season 4 too... because, I need at least one tedious show. I don't want to be completely overwhelmed with awesome; I'd start to feel tiny and unimportant. I need to know that I can do better than others. ;)

Anyways... Yay, Summer! :)
I wonder if Summer is going to be the head of the other House (New York?).
That's a great idea Simon but isn't she a little young?
Too young maybe ? Though i'd love to see her play an icy-cold, alpha female type (the other 'alpha' ;), it'd be an interesting departure for her. Also, there could be business suits involved.
Well she is 28 in real life so it wouldn't be a stretch for her to play a character in her 30s.
Yeah, probably should've said "too youthful" i.e. 28 is old enough to be a manager (though maybe not of something like a dollhouse) but Summer seems younger. Still, she's an actor, i've heard that they're able to pretend stuff, that they've even made a profession out of it ;).

(or she could play a sort of young Turk, an up and comer - that actually strikes me as exactly the sort of character that'd get right up Adelle's nose, which could be fun especially with the added "baggage" of old world cynicism vs new-world can-do attitude)
Simon: Ooh, that would be interesting and cool. :D
A young Turk would make a great story. You can't beat a bit of office drama.
Foxtrot is the name I most want to appear mainly because there has to be a "Foxtrot Alpha' joke in there somewhere. If Sierra was involved somehow it'd be even Sweeter.

I'm mostly looking forward to the time of "Epitaph One", when we will see three Actives (Yankee Hotel Foxtrot) sitting at Circle while tall buildings shake, voices escape singing sad sad songs... ;)
Wilco reference? Nice.
Had to google it myself. Was racking my brains trying to come up with a swear word/phrase starting with Y,H and F ;).

Oh God, I'm excited. Life's been so nice to me today, and this isn't just the icing on the cake. It's the whole frakking cake.

Go Summer!
What if Summer is the handler of another House's Echo, or something like that.
Great news. As long as she isn't an active, she's done her share of brain altered or not-human roles. I didn't click the other link because .... spoiler-phobe.
But, yay!!
Is Joss continuing his plan to cast every one of the Firefly cast members as a main season big bad in one of his other series?
That does seem to be a recurring element in his other shows thus far, doesn't it mr_waterproof? I never really thought about it until now. If Summer turns into this season's Big Bad on Dollhouse, that will have made Nathan, Gina, Alan and Summer all Big Bads on Whedon's other three series.

Can we get an evil Jewel Staite or Sean Maher yet????

ETA: I guess I should have mentioned Adam as a Big Bad too. How could I have forgot?!

[ edited by jiggyfly on 2009-08-27 13:26 ]
I really hope so. It's a great plan! (and jiggyfly, Adam also played a baddy (Hamilton) in Angel 5)
Hahaha, I just edited my previous comment to add him in there Groosalugg. I don't know how I blanked that one.
Jewel was evilesque on Tim Minear's Wonderfalls already.
Also true. Speaking of Wonderfalls, they can just renew that show already. I hated how soon that one ended. It was truly wonderful.
All we need now is a Dollhouse promo trailer. All the other shows are getting them *pouts*.
Yeah, still waiting for that damn trailer... A 10 second clip might tide me over till the season begins. Fringe has a load of them.

[ edited by Jayme on 2009-08-27 14:05 ]
I'm guessing (actually guessing) there will be promo clips soon. Hope so! I'm going to do a Dollhouse radio show special for season two like we did for season one also in a few weeks.

This is joyous for me. However, I have friends who are fans of TSCC who will not be happy. This is the wrong stance to take; that Summer shouldn't work for the show they feel destroyed thier show. Now, during the season finale of TSCC, I was equally attached to it and Dollhouse and didn't want to see either one cancelled with a passion. Now that the months have passed, and one show made it and one did not (though I don't feel it was at the expense of the other), I am ecstatic Dollhouse gets to continue its run. If Summer gets to be a part of that, they shouldn't look at that as working for the enemy, they should look at her as beating the cancellation.
Hahaha, I just edited my previous comment to add him in there Groosalugg.
Yeah, we seem to have posted that simultaneously jiggyfly.

Jewel was evilesque on Tim Minear's Wonderfalls already.

So that leaves Sean, Morena and Ron...
Reminds me that I really have to get to get into Wonderfalls someday. But first I'll finish The Inside, which I just started(what a nice surpise to discover Lafayette was in it!) and then there's Drive, I think I'll watch that over from the start (haven't seen the last 2 yet).

And now I almost forgot to mention how wonderfull I think this Summer news is for the second time. Casting wise season 2 is shaping up really great.
When does Season 2 start again? Can it be tomorrow please?!
Yeah, Smallville and Supernatural seems to have already about a dozen of promos already each. I want my Dollhouse promo trailer.
Are these new spoilers for Alexis Denisof's and Michael Hogan's characters? I don't think I've seen them before.

http://www.thrfeed.com/2009/08/summer-glau-joins-dollhouse.html
It's new to me.
Oh, happy, happy dance.
More great casting news for the 'house; they're putting together quite the ensemble over there. This whole 'second season' malarkey is finally starting to feel real to me as well. Good times.
Yayyyyyy!!! This season is going to be so epic :D
Trying SO hard not to click on those spoiler links...

I hope she is just one of those workers that assist the actives (helping them get dressed, art teachers, yoga teachers, other assistants...). Probably not, but it would be really interesting to meet some of those characters. Who are they? Why are they there? Morally speaking, how do they feel about this dollhouse thing? A whole group of characters that we really know nothing about. Very excited to see Summer!!!
Oh, I'm definately liking the description of Alexis' character! He's going to be awesome in that role!

And, yes, Groosalugg, you definately need to check out Wonderfalls. Next to Firefly it's probably my least favorite cancellation (I mean that in a good way). Caroline Dhavernas was so great in it. Actually, everything about the show was pretty much great.
::JOY::

::HAPPY DANCE::

Now if we can get just *a few* more former Whedon and BSG folks onto TRUE BLOOD and MAD MEN, I will be in full-on bliss mode for my TV. ;-)
Alexis Denisof should so be on Mad Men :).
Come on, Joss, hire someone from Buffy please!
Felicia was in Buffy, she's in season two.
Alexis was in Buffy too.
Umm...Felicia was a potential, so season seven, not two.

And Alexis was on Buffy, as well, in season three. Not to mention, you know, Eliza.
Umm...Felicia was a potential, so season seven, not two.

He probably was saying season two of Dollhouse.
That makes sense, too. Perhaps even more sense, therefore I'll shut up now.
Yes, my grasp of grammar is still bad.
Grandpa probably prefers it that way.</bad pun>

I was actually kinda impressed by how extensively they covered that part of the story in season one. Not only did we get a quite pronounced moral position outside of our main characters by someone working with them/underneath them (Hearn), we also got touches of the machinery that comes along with it:

- The Ramirez-replacement wondering about Victor inventing rape in MOTS.
- The staff meeting in "Needs" and how Dominic's view of the Actives as pets catches on with staff like Alvarez.
- Alvarez herself showing up again in "Omega", being proud of her "Nr. 1 Active".
- Blevins quite openly questioning Adelle's judgment in the flashback in "Omega".
- And there's Ivy, the assistant being incredibly angry and not getting enough cool stuff to do and being under the heels of Topher (himself a loud talker, but basically nobody in the upper hierarchy of the house), and then experiencing that role very extremely when she becomes Dom's scapegoat in ASITHOL.

I'd say that a whole group of characters we actually got to know quite a bit during season 1. And looking at the casting calls for the future episodes, I'd say that's a trend that's not going to stop in Season 2.
I'm talking main stars, bonzob and gossi.
This season is really going to ROCK!! :)
Little Green Kid, you're not wrong.
- The Ramirez-replacement wondering about Victor inventing rape in MOTS.

You mean Bicks. ;)
Actually, Groosalugg? Morena has done evil baddie - Vala's witchy half-human, half-Ori daughter Adria in the final season and one TV movie for Stargate SG-1, plus her upcoming role as the Visitor leader Anna in the revamp of V coming this fall - so it's down to Ron and Sean.

I personally would love to see Sean Maher get to be a Big Bad because he didn't get to be dark or dangerous much in Firefly or Serenity except for the BDM's opening teaser. At least in my opinion, he didn't get to do much dark and dirty. He was a "Girls Gone Wild"-like video series creator in CSI Miami who was a bit of a sleazebag ;)
You mean Bicks. ;)

Ah, yes! How could that name escape me?! ;)
Summer & Denisof! Thank you x ten million.
Can you NOT put spoilers in the title of the link. FUCK.
I think in general casting doesn't get considered a spoiler unless it's like the return of some known character.
I would be surprised if learning that an actor had been cast in a show was considered a spoiler.

"Ah, man, Eliza Dushku's in this? I wanted to go in just knowing that it was some sort of television program called Dollhouse. But now I know there's an actress in it, playing a role of some kind. The whole thing is ruined."
After all - in television you do get to see a list of all the featured actors at the beginning of each episode.
I'm as anti-spoiler as anyone and I don't consider this a spoiler
"Alan Tudyk returns as Alpha" would be a spoiler, not this.
