Costume designer Shawna Trpic posts an intriguing pic. What could it mean? Could it be the return of...?

Let the speculation begin!

Also from Nathan yesterday:
Saw @FeliciaDay today. She said, "Your hair is aMAZing." True story. -Told you I'd twitter it, Day.
*gasp* I thought they were all too busy with Dollhouse?
Joss must hate us. I await the day we get a "Joss Whedon is shopping!" tweet.
OMG! I hadn't seen the picture from the roof top, and hadn't done the math..But please, Powers, let *that* happen soon..or sooner!! I'll start doing prayers from all the religions like Xander in Tabula Rasa, pretty much now :-D!
Check out the language used also. aMAZing. whAt.

Since I ended up doing the pieces-together post for Dr Horrible where Joss ended up having to explain poor Bagless The Cat, I'll do EXACTLY that again here.

MAZ, according to Urban Dictionary, means "to jump into a river full of crocodiles with only a sledgehammer to rescue drowning monkeys and then find out there's no treasure at the bottom of the river so you get really frustrated and upon returnign to the land u throw the monkeys back into the water and swing the sledgehammer at them as they try to go back onto land".

Yep. That's exactly the plot of this thing. You heard it here first.

Wow, the meaning of MAZ has certainly changed over the years, in my day it was a claw hammer and there was some treasure but it had been irradiated by a gold obsessed megalomaniac. I just don't even know what these darn kids are saying anymore.

And yay, finally the sequel to Serenity gets greenlit, can't wait !

(it's pretty clear that's what it means as far as i'm concerned, not sure why there's even any doubt and if there were then surely the picture of an empty car park clears it up ?)
So the capital letters so far are MAZ A WHO and BTW. Hmmmm. It's obvious* really but I don't want to spoil the surprise for others so I'll not say.

* this is a lie
Welding goggles? Maybe it's just really sunny in LA?
Yeah but it's also sunny in ... ? Summer of course. And in 'Serenity' someone that might be Summer wears welding googles when repairing the ship. So the ship is ready to fly again, get it ?

It couldn't be more explicit if they personally went around tattooing it on everyone's forehead. Or it might be a Buffy movie.
Maz A Who, Btw could totally be a kids TV series. Maz A Who! (Btw).
It's catchy but i'd only watch it if it prominently featured the Chuckle Brothers.
Mostly I'm sad no one tweeted a picture of whatever Nathan's awesome hairdo was.
Some things are too awesome for Twitter, Sunfire.
That's true. Nathan Fillion + epic hair is a formula for the fail whale. Hopefully we get to see it in an Emmys clip.
Whatever is going on, it's sure to be awesome. I agree with one of the comments on twitpic, this is probably something especially for the Emmy's. Which is pretty cool.

Gossi, I got all nostalgic with the link too the old thread. But I really think your logic is much more sound this time around!
Like you'd ever know what is going on, bobw1o ;)
Shooot, I wish I did! I feel so out of touch. All I've got so far was a response of, "Hehe." My money's on special for the Emmy's. Except, without the actually betting money part. Cause I'm poor.
What do you mean let the speculation BEGIN? I was speculating all day yesterday and couldn't get the Emmys thing to get any traction whatsoever outside of like three people. ;)

Yeah, it's definitely small shoot stuff. I'd think Emmys also.
Still missing in this thread is Felicia's response: "Although the caps are good, the way I said it really needs italics and bold too. It truly was magnificently sculpted hair."
Maz a Who. Definitely really catchy.

Who is on twitter already spend whole yesterday speculating. But I think Simon, means to let us hear others.

I throw some "not-really-money" into your betting pool bobw1o.
Twitter speculation? Let's just do it old fashion blog style ;).
You're living in the past, Simon. ;)
Joss's appearance at the NYC screening of Dr. Horrible on 9/21 will be a great chance to press for details. (*begins thinking of questions*)
Except that if it's an Emmys thing, the Emmys will have already happened the night before.
Oh. NY screening. They've probably recorded something for that. Duh.
That occurred to me, but I'm not convinced, if only because Shawna specifically said "aired" not "shown".
It occurred to me maybe they're filming the next bit of Horrible over the long weekend. But I really think it's something for the Emmys. The timing with Dollhouse filming just seems too bad for it to be something for the NYC screening or the sequel.
And they'd said months ago that what they were looking at for more actual Horrible was TV hiatus in 2010. For me, everything points to the Emmys, and nothing lines up for outright sequel (which I also simply do not believe they could keep under wraps even if they had the time).
BTW the base is silver not green

I wonder if the poor schmoe at the welding supply company who was at the center of the silver/green ruckus will see this.
Yeah, this sounds like something for the Emmys...which guarantees that I'm going to be watching the Emmys this year.
I really don't understand why they'd screen 'Serenity 2' at the Emmys, it doesn't qualify for this year's surely ?
At first I watched NPH on the talk shows, hoping that he might make a Dr. Horrible reference (which I never saw), and then I quit hoping because I figured it was just too cult to matter to the big world.

But if it shows up on the Emmy's, I am DVRing that this year! (Live? I never watch anything live anymore.)
If the Emmys showed a Dr. Horrible teaser, would that imply that the sequel would air on TV (vs. Internet)? I'm not sure how TV-only the Emmys are defined to be.
Maybe it's not a teaser, maybe it's just a sketch, or a one-shot prequel of some kind.
SteveP it's nominated for an Emmy, so having spme sort of thing appearing wouldn't imply anything about a sequel's venue.
I wish people would stop posting things about the Serenity "sequel". My heart gets all explodey when I read it, and then the tears come when I realize it's just another joke. Dang.
Actually, b!x, I can believe they could keep the sequel under wraps for a while. The original was under wraps until the day before they began shooting and only 'cause NPH mentioned it in an interview, and even then most people thought it was a joke. It really wasn't till Joss came out with it the next day that it truly became public knowledge.

But whatever this is (Emmy's), clearly those involved are being allowed (told to?) release cryptic hints.

Either way, woohoo!
Times are different now than when they made the original. I really don't think they'll be able to keep a lock on the follow-up's existence when it happens. *shrug*
Well, if they come through my camera rental house again, before the bag loses another cat, I'll make sure to start leaving cryptic clues at the very least, but if no one believes me I shall be very cross!
