I can't help but think that this looks like a step back from 'vows' and 'E1'. I hope I'm wrong.

Yeah, the trailer doesn't look great. But I remember not thinking much of the 'Spy In The House Of Love' trailer, and being blown away by the episode, so I won't judge a book by its trailer. Or something.

Wouldn't it have to be a step back from Vows though? Vows has the advantage of so much emotional baggage to handle. Tension is going to have to be rebuilt in a few of the relationships and that is usually slow if it's going to be any good.

If a show stays at that level too long I usually start getting disinterested because my suspension of disbelief crumbles. People can't be at 10 on a scale of 10 all the time.
