Producers Guild to honor Joss. "Joss Whedon has mastered the art of melding the newest technology with inspired storytelling, truly exemplifying the spirit of the Vanguard Award".

Amazing. Emmys and pga. That little"horrible" musical seems to have achieved more atention that seven season of Buffy, five of Angel and... well... the rest.

It does stinge though to read Dollhouse referred as a hit television programme...

Congrat to Joss.
Congrats, Joss...even if you never actually guarded a van. Maybe this is a bit like Obama's Nobel Prize, more a recognition of what you might achieve in the future. You could turn out to be a masterful van guardsman.
HAD Joss guarded a van, surely the wonderflonium would be safe...although "do not bounce" is a severe temptation, difficult to resist!
Congrats on your kudo!!
The truth is, Ive never actually guarded a van." ....funny as ever...LoL

Congrats to Joss and his awesomeness!!
Good for him, this a well deserved and timely award.
Well there was some van guarding involved in 'Doctor Horrible' in that Captain Hammer jumped on it, saved Penny from it, and surely Joss was the brains behind that? Anyway this is an awesome honor and I love seeing Joss get recognition from anyone and everyone! Now if someone would just let him make a TV show....
Captain hammer didn't stop the van, Dr. Horrible did! }-P
Bout time he was recognized for his melding.
Well deserved. Of all the people who sort of know what's going on, Joss is indeed one. And the PGA award is easily in the top tier of awards that're kind of named after a golf competition.
Oh awesome. I've never heard of these awards honestly, but they seem quite nice and it's always cool to see Joss getting recognition.

Will there be a video once the event takes place?
Congrats to Joss! It seems his plan of winning awards for mediums that didn't have anything to do with the winning production is continuing apace. TV Award for web show, not-really-golf-themed-award for... wait, where was I? Oh, right, congrats Joss, you are indeed the man we choose to guard our van. Hey, that should be a tagline :).
I thought dr Horrible where about a van not being guarded.
Congrats to this "super total visionary."
Yay Joss! You are so much more than a guarder of vans. Too bad all the cult cred on the planet couldn't keep Dollhouse alive.
But the recognition is a sweet validation of awesomeness.
Anyone know why the link to DHD opens my RSS reader instead of opening the page?

ETA that, oddly, it only happens when I click it from here. It doesn't do it if I go to DHD directly.

Just noticed the ceremony is January 24. Given that we'll know by the time Dollhouse ends on January 22 what Joss' next project is, I wonder if he'll talk about it there.

A different URL is now required to access the relevant page so I changed the link accordingly.
Ooh, congrats Joss! That's great!
Fantastic news! Congratulations, Joss!
Fave line :

Im ready to take my place next to the guys who made THX 1138 and Tin Toy (Did they ever do anything else, btw? They showed such promise.)

Congrats, J.
Awesome! The list of Joss's achievments grows even longer.

Is there a link anywhere that summarizes all the Awards and Honours he's won?
Because if not, I think it would be great if there was such as webpage - which is a request to any Whedonesquer with more html knowledge (i.e. none) and a better memory (i.e. not great) than I!
Hurrah! Of course if it were up to me, I'd give Joss all the awards, van-related or not.

Well, there's this.
Fox take that... & does this mean they are stuck in the past?
Not surprisingly, io9 questions the legitimacy of the award for Joss...

http://io9.com/5411047/producers-of-america-congratulations-joss-now-leave-television-alone
Regardless of what io9 said (and btw the award is to honour his collective accomplishments - I checked), perhaps we could focus on the the sheer thrill of Joss getting an award rather than what some other blog has to say about the matter. As good news has been a bit thin on the ground here of late.
and btw the award is to honour his collective accomplishments - I checked

If by "to honour" you mean "not to honour", since the award is about recognizing achievements in new media and technology, not a lifetime or a career taken as a whole.

ETA: Unless you mean his collective accomplishments in new media and technology, but that still really only amounts to Dr. Horrible.

I remember it differently.
"I stopped the van! The remote control was in my hand!"
Thanks b!X, I am some what embarrassed it didn't even occur to me to check wikipedia!

Joss really is critically acclaimed isn't he?! Awesome!
Conversations with Dead People won a Hugo award for best short-form presentation. I wonder why that's not in the Wikipedia list. I know he's not the credited writer but he's not the credited writer on Smile Time either and that is listed
Unless you mean his collective accomplishments in new media and technology, but that still really only amounts to Dr. Horrible.

I do. You could argue the case for the Serenity shorts as well. And if push comes to shove, actively engaging the fanbase online as well.
Congratulations to Joss! He deserves this award - and many others, in my opinion. ;)

One quibble with this article - when she lists the movies he's written, why is there no Serenity??
Empire Online's Kat Brown describes it as a "prize for general awesomeness".
Empire also thinks Fray has something to do with this, despite comics being neither "new media" nor "technology" in this context.
Just heard about this because I spend all day Monday wandering around Hollywood and seeing Conan O'Brien live. This is very cool, and I hope some type of video presentation will be available.
I think Conan O'Brian makes a video presentation available most nights of the week.
Congratulations Joss! A nice honor and some well deserved recognition for your work.
