"Respect the cruller..." Dunkin' Donuts discontinues the twisty, oblong treat, and a Boston Globe writer throws in a gratuitious Buffy reference (last line).

I love when journalists do this. They just can't resist letting people know they're Buffy fans, no matter what they're writing about.

I thought it was funny that it was mentioned right after the reference to the founder of Dunkin' Donuts, William Rosenberg. I was skimming the article, and had my brain temporarily stall on that until I could properly translate it.
Do you think the writer got the reference to Tom Cruise's character in Magnolia or not?
Yes, I think he got it. I think everyone did.
I don't get it. I've never seen "Magnolia," and I can't remember that donut quote at all. Who said it, and in what context?
Xander said it in Once More with Feeling. It was just as Buffy was entering the Magic Box for the first time in that episode. Xander was sitting at the table handling pastries as he said it.

Anya responded with "Still funny, sweetie."
Um, it wasn't a donut quote in "Magnolia."
(Edited inadvertend double post--sorry.)
