Herc reviews tonight's 'Tru Calling'. "It may, in fact, make more than a few Buffyphiles grateful that the proposed "Faith on a Motorcycle" spinoff never materialized". Ouch.

While I have to say that I wasn't as happy as I expected to be with the show when I saw it at Comic Con, I have to say that it wasn't the worst thing I have ever seen. It certainly isn't the worst thing that is being aired on television today. With that said, I agree that the show will be fighting an awful uphill battle and the odds are high that it will flounder.
I plan on watching when I can, but I am not insane about doing so.
I feel that Eliza does a wonderful job with what she was given, but the supporting cast leaves something to be desired.
Considering Fox's faith (no pun intended) in fledging shows, I say it gets canned after three episodes.
i'm confused, why will it "make more than a few Buffyphiles grateful that the proposed 'Faith on a Motorcycle' spinoff never materialized"? i think herc meant it the other way around maybe?
I guess he meant that Liza's not good enought to carry her own show? Not the conclusion I would have drawn, but...
rsfayez,

I think he meant that Eliza Dushku just isn't good as the lead of a show, in the Buffyverse or not.
Well I don't really think the problems with this show (and there were many) had anything to do with ED. It was unoriginal, poorly edited, the casting was spotty at best (with Eliza being the standout winner, despite what Herc may think), and FOX crippled it coming out of the gate by putting it up against Friends and Survivor. And they KNEW it too, as evidenced by the little half-time recap, designed to catch up those who had just switched channels from Friends.

Eliza's great... if she's given good material to work with. S1 Angel eps "Five by Five" and "Sanctuary" were awesome, and probably two of the finest eps the series has ever had.

But whatever... ED's fault or not I won't be tuning in again.
