Marvel source say Joss Whedon linked to Runaways movie. That's what Access Hollywood report. Does Joss ever actually sleep? Is any of this true? Why am I still typing? Edit: and then Nikki Finke waded in to say that Peter Sollett is in talks for the gig.

Interesting,I actually can buy Joss being more interested in Runaways than The Avengers actually.He wrote Runaways for example.

It's a better fit. A few months ago I decided I wanted Joss to direct a Scott Pilgrim movie, so I googled it to find out who owned the rights.

Then I found out Edgar Wright already directed one. That was a fine Google result, I'll have you know.

Would love to see Joss doing Runaways, I fell in love with those books. I was a little weary about him doing Avengers, I mean if it ended up doing extremely well, I don't know what would end up happening to our master.

But runaways seems like an excellent choice for our man.

If Joss did Avengers and it did well he'd live on an island called Mount Whedon. On it, he would live out his days releasing Buffy on Blu-Ray, where Spike is computer enhanced to sparkle. And Mal would both not shoot first, and aim badly. And it would have scratch and sniff cards for each scene, you too can smell Jayne's crotch.

To be fair, Nikki only says Peter Sollett is negotiating for the directors role. Seems like it's not set in stone?

For a minute I thought it meant the upcoming film about Joan Jett's old band. Why are people always linking Joss with projects that have the same name as something else?

I'd love to see Whedon involved in a Runaways film adaptation. I don't think they'd adapt his arc, thought. There's too much important information that comes before it. I'd guess the film would cover the very first arc where the kids discover the truth about their parents - if they don't go into that, the title wouldn't make any sense.

I didn't mind Joss' arc. It introduced Klara. She can grow plants... with her MIND! Beside's BKV, Joss has been the best writer of Runaways.

ETA: Hey maybe if this movie goes ahead Marvel will actually make more Runaway comics!

I uber-enjoyed Joss's Runaways arc as a history buff. Thrilling pop culture references of yesteryear! And story-wise, he was quite the little Dickens.

Kaan- I know, but that does not mean the movie has to play completely fair. And I have no love for Ms. Stewart, but I could see it happen.

They had Vaughan do at least one draft of the script, so if he actually did most (if not all) of the writing and Joss did the directing, this'd be just about the best property I could hope for Joss to work on outside of his own.
