MTV's ADAPT THIS asks for Sugarshock the Animated Musical. Right? Right?!!! So do I.

Although it's true that trying to write an actual Saddest Song Ever might be itself a Tragic Mistake.

(Mods, if this is deemed too lightweight, do delete it. I thought it might be interesting to see what people think of this idea, and to hear any ideas that might come up...)

Sugarshock is actually the only Joss work I have pretty much zero affection for. I don't dislike it I just didn't really enjoy it....
I really liked it, but I'm also okay if it stays the short little gem that it is.
Neh, I've seen lighter weight than this. It's just an idea via Joss Whedon's work. Seems pretty par for the course around here. After all, I'm sure IO9 mentions Joss Whedon in every other article for the bump at this point. :)

If I'd actually read the comic I might have something more to say on it. Must be more of a live action fan methinks.
I think creating actual music for the story would lose a lot of the charm. That said, I do think Dandelion would be great as an animated character. She's so bouncy/random.
Oh, seriously, do read it, whoever hasn't.

It's got some of my favorite Jossian lines.

Battle Royale With Cheese: Part 1
For Those About To Rock Or Die: Part 2
The Greatest Story Ever Blogged: Part 3

Yeppity-sir.

Yeah, an animated films sans actual songs might be the ticket.
Sugarshock is my favourite Joss work, ever. LOVED IT and I can't wait for this!
QG, I agree--if they don't actually play the songs, it would be pretty, dare I say, nifty. Simple cut to black, fade up on next scene right before the chord is struck, no worries about the saddest song

I own the original artwork of that panel/page. I'm just saying it because it makes me special.
Yeah, I don't think they could take on that song.

I did, however, enjoy this excuse to read Sugarshock again. And I'm SO envious, B!x!
No thanks. More SugarShock one-shot comics? Yes please. Let things be what they are. Not everything has to be multi-formatted franchise juggernauts. Beside's the Buffyverse stuff, I wanna see Joss do new projects. Or at least some of the ones he has talked about before. Remember that Ballet movie with Summer? What happened to that? I would love to see that.
YES YES YES YES! Want. Want.

Ditto.
Yes++. But agreed, the Song cannot be rendered as for the ears of mere mortals so set it up to be played and then don't show it. Kind of like the cup of coffee in "Hudson Hawk" except forget I said that and please make a supreme effort of will to disassociate "Sugarshock" from "Hudson Hawk" in your minds. Not thinking of elephants at the same time might help.
Much like one can't hear the greatest song in the world, but can hear a "Tribute" to it, I agree that we could not stand The Saddest Song Ever.
Hey, I liked Hudson Hawk. More that I liked Sugarshock, in fact. Sugarshock is... well, I don't hate it. If there was a unit of measurement for ambivalence, "sugarshocks" could be it. "Did you like the movie?" "Eh, I feel 1.2 sugarshocks about the movie".
Hey, I liked Hudson Hawk. More that I liked Sugarshock, in fact.

OK, i'm always on about how there's no objective metric for art appreciation and I stand by that. Except for this one instance and I can prove it using a powerful combination of mathematics, fluffy mammals and the works of Karl Marx.

'Sugarshock' = teh awesome * infinity + 1

whereas

'Hudson Hawk' = communism + kitten kicking - love

∴ 'Sugarshock' > 'Hudson Hawk'

QED.
Sugarshock was Joss going punk. I wouldn't want anymore, it would spoil the highspeed kinetic, giggling enjoyment I got from the three part story.

And is it Sugarshock or SugarShock! ?
I thinks it is technically Sugarshock, but on the one-shot cover it is two words, so I usually split the difference.
I don't think a new Joss project would be excludent for an animated Sugarshock, Kaan (great nick, it makes me wanna scream it with Wrath :) Joss could continues with ideas, and someone else would handle the cartoon (Somebody from ME or Fabio Moon).
