Buffyfest and Scott Allie on Dollhouse, Buffy, SDCC. Clears up some things re: the Dollhouse comic (it will not be available at SDCC), discusses the Buffy motion comic, and talks a bit about Joss at the con.

You beat me by four minutes! I'll get you next time, b!X. *shakes fist*
Also of note is Scott describes the back and forth re: whether or not Joss thought, at various times, a Dollhouse comic was doable. Interesting to see who actually made it happen.
I still think it's kind of an iffy concept to pull off in comic book form; part of what was so great about the show was seeing the actors portray wildly different characters.

I'm still excited to read it, though. Mo and Jed wrote all the best episodes of the series (and yes, I even liked Stage Fright), so the fact that they're writing it is awesome. I'll take anything Dollhouse-related that comes from their brains.

I think that's precisely why they thought the Epitaph future was the scenario in which the idea might possibly work in comics. There's not as much of that going on.
He sounds cranky about the motion comic.
Allie sure didn't want to talk about the Buffy motion comics. Late last year he didn't want to discuss them either, so he's obviously not happy about it.
I'd be cranky about it. Dark Horse is the reason they can even exist! Bet DH aren't getting compensated for it properly.

Dark Horse being compensated is something that I was wondering in the other thread.
Definitely seems there was some stepping on toes by Fox being the owner of the property.
Well, Fox can do what they want with Buffy, and Allie should've known that when he got in the Buffy game.
Yeah,he doesn't sound happy about the motion comics.
His implication seemed to me to be, "The art wasn't designed to be animated, so it might look bad and put people off the comics, and that will reflect badly on us even though we had nothing to do with it." Notice he mentions Dark Horse are working on their own motion comic for a different property, that he say will be much better? ;-)
They're planning to do more Dollhouse comics, yay. :D

WE are lucky fans! The little show that could. <3
