(SPOILER) CBR's Behind Buffy for Issue 38. This month CBR talks with Georges Jeanty about the latest issue.

Good interview. His answers are so much stronger when he's on his own topic and not just trying to appease us spoiler-hungry fans. I love hearing about an artist's favorite subjects to draw-- really wouldn't have known that he wasn't a monster guy! And really, I thought he did pretty well with the military stuff, too.

The way he recounts Joss asking him onto the project kind of touches me, too. So many illustrators have this seed of insecurity about their work, so even if they're successful it's always "Why do you want me? No, really, why me?" If he'd been a Joss fan at the time, though, I bet he would have trusted him to know what the right style for this series was going to be. Buffy needs to look like Buffy but not necessarily SMG: YES. It's the most impressive thing about Jeanty's artwork in Season 8, and I love it that he connected with the mastermind on that idea right at the get-go.

Totally agree! When Jeanty’s in his element he’s very articulate and insightful.
Wonderful interview. I love hearing Jeanty's take on the series more or less removed from the plot or Joss's intentions. Very cool. Can't wait for Dec/Jan!
Ok, stupid question, because I know nothing about comicbook writing/drawing styles.

Georges talks about drawing sound effects, especially when Buffy or other characters are hit. Master's "WHAM" is longer (and followed by a "CRUNCH") than Angel's "WHAAM".

Does that mean The Master is stronger than Angel?
