Browncoats Redemption DVD raises over $9000 for charity so far. The proceeds will be split between Equality Now, Kids Need to Read, The Dyxlexia Foundation, the Al Wooten Jr. Heritage Center and the Marine Corps Law Enforcement Foundation. The following is an excerpt from a Q&A with Jewel Staite earlier this year.

While she was at DragonCon in Atlanta, she got a chance to see the premiere of the Browncoats Redemption fan film. She said she was impressed. "That was not easy to do, especially with no money or anything," she said. "It's really incredible that they went to all that effort." She also said she bought a copy of the DVD.

And of course the first thing that comes to mind with that headline is "It's over nine THOUSAND!!" And I hate myself for reviving that old meme.

I haven't seen the film yet, but I did get to tour the set and meet the cast, and it was incredible what they had built from nothing! I bought my copy at Dragon*Con as well and am looking forward to watching it.
I've seen the movie twice. A rough cut at a CSTS event and the finished version at Dragon*Con, and it is really well done. That they've been able to raise nearly $10,000 for charity already is stunning and I hope they're able to reach their goal of 32,000 units sold. This is really worth supporting!
Good job to all involved.
