Serenity keeps flying at Dark Horse Comics. Newsarama speaks to Scott Allie about the future of Serenity.

"Stretched across the galaxy"... "reached across star systems"...

Otherwise a good article but it really bugs me that it starts with two sentences that are so completely false about the nature of the Firefly 'verse.
I'm trying to figure out who the orphans on Serenity's crew are...

Issues aside, I'm excited for more tales in the Serenity-verse, and I do get the feeling that Joss is holding back on doing a full-on continuation in comic format because he's still holding onto hope for more movies.
I still hold out hope, too. I mean, think about it: his little Avengers side-project does super well. People start to recognize "Whedon" as a big major movie director, so obviously they'll research his other work. They'll discover Firefly and Serenity. There will be a MASSIVE uptake in Serenity DVD sales that will make Universal go all, "Hmmm..." Then they'll shove a bunch of money at Joss and the actors and say, "please... pretty please." Then Joss will make more Serenity movies and the 'verse will live on.

It's all quite elementary, you see.
"I'm trying to figure out who the orphans on Serenity's crew are..."

I think they must be referring to Simon and River since their parents refused to go against the Alliance and essentially abandoned them when Simon decided to save River. It's a terrible word to use considering their parents aren't dead but I'm pretty sure that's what they meant.

Honestly, I'm a bit scared to hope. I love Serenity and I want a second movie so badly (especially if it included flashbacks so Wash could be in it too) but I don't want to have any high expectations in case it really doesn't happen.
"Stretched across the galaxy"... "reached across star systems"...

Both true from a certain point of view.

Official Map of the Verse back

The verse involves six star systems even if some of them a pretty darn close to each other. I blame Blue Sun.

White Sun system
Georgian Sun system
Red Sun system
Kalidasa Sun system
Old Sol system
Blue Sun system

There are some definite spelling/intention errors going on in this article, but it is very well intentioned and insightful regardless.
