(SPOILER) Steven S. DeKnight's Spartacus: Gods of the Arena premieres this Friday. DeKnight gives Joss Whedon a shout out in this article about the six episode prequel to Spartacus: Blood and Sand, and talks about Andy Whitfield's unfortunate departure from the series.

Lucy Lawless (Lucretia) and John Hannah (Batiatus) are also featured in the article. Minor spoilers for the prequel, and major spoilers for Blood and Sand if you haven't seen it yet!

And if you don't have cable et cetera, it'll hit Netflix instant watch the next day (or, if it goes like before, the same night).
Greatly looking forward to this. Sad about Andy Whitfield's departure.
I really wanna watch the first series...I know it's on netflix...but I'm getting close to finishing Mad Men...must push forward.
Yes!!!! More Lucretia and Batiatus! Feels like forever since gossi poked me into watching Spartacus.
I loved Spartacus last year, and I can't wait to watch the new season (Now that I think of it, last year was a really good year in t.v.). I'm very sorry that Andy Whitfield has left the show, and I wish him a speedy recovery.

I'm also really sorry to see Andy Whitfield go but his health is obviously more important, hope that all works out for the best. And the replacement looks like he came out of the same vat anyway (pretty silly of Australia to tip its human cloning hand over a TV series IMO but I guess the show must go on).
Jed Whedon and Maurissa Tancharoen wrote on this too. (And next season). Happy days.

That made me laugh Saje and I'm right there with you, kudos! That is also promising news so thanks gossi! One of these boards got me to give the series a shot which I thought looked so shallow and stupid, something like “UFC the show”. That's what I get for judging the book by the cover, terrific series I am hotly anticipating the return of this show and the eventual season 2!
