Buffy among Salon's best remakes of all time. Salon television critic Matt Zoller Seitz looks at the greatest remakes of tv shows and movies and includes our favorite slayer in the list.

"Proof that sometimes you can make a silk purse from a sow's ear, the remakes of "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" and "Battlestar Galactica" used mediocre source material as springboards for two of the most adventurous and original TV series ever produced."

This makes me want to rewatch both Buffy and BSG right now... Two truly amazing shows.
Mostly solid list, except they left out John Carpenter's remake of The Thing, which as far as I'm concerned is the remake standard all others are held up to.
I loved how they paired my two all time favorite shows.

Though I think the best remake is actually THE MALTESE FALCON. There was a previous version, though perhaps more strictly it is just a second version of the novel.

Kurosawa claims that he didn't know Hammett's RED HARVEST, but the plot replicates the book so sharply that it is hard to imagine that he was unaware.
