Film Greatness. On the Eve of Our Endeavor, I celebrate an american classic -- or possibly all of them.

Hi Pumpkins, joss here.

Tomorrow we start shooting (I THINK I'm legally permitted to say that). Day one. That's right. We'll be shooting the pivotal death/betrayal/product placement/setting up the sequel/coming out scene, at the following address:

[Marvel Lawyers rush in, take Joss's keyboard, blowtorch a picture of his family like in "Stormy Monday", drink his milkshake, leave the seat up, fluff his pillows, violently unfluff his pillows, leave]

Went too far. My bad. Anyhoo, it should be a fun day, followed by the eighty thousand other fun days it will take to finish this. I'll be checking in from time to time, if there's news or I crave attention (i.e. am awake) . None of it will be Avengers news -- I have some very denty pillows to remind of that -- but I may have tidbits. (They're not about Firefly. I should say that up front, if only to protect Sis Mo from the HATORZ.)

Some of you may be saying, Joss! Why this link, here, now, why, huh, howcum? My friend Allyx turned me on to these guys, and I'll tell you, they've gotten me through this intensely pressurized, preply time. I strongly recommend checking out their other vids -- I've watched them many many times, and I have a very special place for "Teamwork" in my heart. These guys are the guys. And IS there a better movie title than "Eagles Are Turning People Into Horses"? I thought not.

So wish me luck. DO IT! LUCK! NOW! I'm off to finish some Buffy pages, and then figure out what the movie is about already. I'm pretty sure it's about the Justice League [Marvel Lawyers re-enter, unspeakability occurs] or possibly something else. I'll get it. I've been looking forward to this. For about 46 years.

Fantastic! I just saw Thor the other day, and I'm even more hyped for The Avengers (and Captain America, of course). This is gonna be one hell of a movie event, and I cannot wait. I am adequately prepared to rock. Bring on Cap, then The Avengers, then The Avengers: 5-hour Blu-ray Joss-Cut.

Anyway, you show them peoples who don't get this Buffy thing that you are a cinematic god, and that's even before the 400 million dollars you're kind of required to gross for this movie. I'm sure Chris Hemsworth will have your back, since this is the second movie he's in that you're part of. If all goes well, Chris will lead Hulk, Captain America and Iron Man to MGM where they will calmly demand that "Cabin in the Woods" be released, in 3,567-D...or we go the "Hulk Smash" route.

Mark Ruffalo is on Regis and Kelly discussing the fact that he'll be playing the Hulk in The Avengers, and will be the first actor to play both the Hulk and Bruce Banner. He says that the Hulk is his generation's 'Hamlet' (everyone will get a shot at it). So some early advertising/promotion for the Avengers!

This is what happens when you don't check in over the weekend...Joss sneaks in and makes an appearance.

Well since shooting is happening...RIGHT NOW...my advice is already too late for first day shooting. But I might as well put it out there. Better late, right?

Since Joss has so many high profile actors to work with, I was going to suggest Joss dress as The Black Knight whenever he's directing the action. Minus the (bad)horse, of course. Everyone (even actors) respect people more when they carry a big sword on their hip. Its common knowledge.

You know I am actually less concerned about Avengers than I am about the movies leading up to Avengers. I hope they all turn out good to help keep the anticipation up for Avengers. I think if Joss just sticks to everything that made Serenity a great movie he'll be fine. Making us care about the characters, great dialogue, some great humor and of course great action. It is a comic book movie after all. I think Buffy, Angel, Dollhouse and Serenity almost always delivered memorable action sequences so I have little concern about that

It is so GREAT to have you filming in my city, Albuquerque. The film studio is great as is our beautiful New Mexico weather - Don't know if you will be doing only studio shoots, but if not, I sure hope that I can visit locations shoots.

P.S. - always ask for your chili on the side when you eat out at the local restaurants.

OK, so since Caroline mentioned on twitter that one publication said Joss sent an email to us, and I couldn't bear the thought of the media being wrong, I managed ~~to produce~~ to find this in-no-way-actual email from Joss to WHEDONesque announcing the start of The Avengers shooting.
