Simon & Kaylee know No H8. A beautiful reunion shot for the anti-prejudice project.

Link is for a tumblr, as I cannot find the original on the project's official website.

Sometimes you just what to cover her mouth with duct tape and... well, I'm just sayin'...
They look so glamorous together.
Stunning! Oh and Jewel looks lovely as well ;p Seriously though, it makes my icy little Browncoat heart warm to see how close they still are - and for such a worthy (and very American - go Jewel!) cause as well.
I think I'm gonna rank Sean Maher as the hottest Whedonverse guy...
malformed, ew.

Truly gorgeous shot. Love seeing them together!
Aw, I miss my lovely Kaylee. Still adorable, I see. :)
as I cannot find the original on the project's official website.

Appreciate you looking, trying to find anything on that site is not easy. Cool pic.
Yay, love Jewel. Also, malformed, that's pretty sick, verging on rape joke territory.
malformed was making a reference to the following:

Jayne: Captain, can you stop her from bein' cheerful, please?

Mal: I don't believe there is a power in the 'verse that can stop Kaylee from being cheerful. (He smiles at her, never stopping working.) Sometimes you just wanna duct tape her mouth and dump her in the hold for a month.

(She grins and kisses his cheek.)

Kaylee: I love my captain.

It's a quote from 'Firefly' isn't it ('Serenity Pt 1' ? I can't remember and as the rule of thumb goes, "If you can't remember, re-watch !" ;) ? Seems kind of germane to me, given the photo of the woman who played Kaylee with duct tape over her mouth, horses/courses though, as per.

ETA: As Simon says. Why do we (sometimes) have to work for our wages meaning we hit preview then post 5 minutes later ? It just seems unfair.[/ETA]

That aside, good cause, nice photo.

I'm smiling ear-to-ear! Oh, my heart aches.
very nice. Also, someone needs to (re)watch Firefly ASAP :)
"Sometimes you just what to cover her mouth with duct tape and... well, I'm just sayin'..."

I think I'm going to have to go with digupherbones and Willowy on this one. Ew. I immediately got the episode reference, which I would have found much more amusing without the added:

"... well, I'm just sayin'..."

That's the part that causes trouble and feels like it crossed the line, ambiguous as it is. I know interpretations vary, but there's at least three of us here with an "EW" type reaction, so if that's the sort of thing that was not meant to be implied, then I guess this becomes a cautionary tale about the written word and I'm sorry there has been a misunderstanding.

In all fairness, it was kind of a weird ad campaign as it combined (in general) deliberately sexualized people with bondage imagery, but then subverted the trope by having everyone wear white against white backdrops to imply purity. I think it was deliberately designed to provoke exactly these sorts of responses, both malformed's and the "Ew." (Shades of Dollhouse, anyone?) Of course the main idea was that these people were being violated by H8 and that that was supposed to be a bad thing. Somehow, there is a possible reading of malformed's post that seems to imply instead that Jewel being forcibly taped up will place her under the power of another where "things" can be done to her and that that is something... to look forward to. (I don't think I managed to express that last bit very well. I'm blaming the three hours of sleep.)

I think Mal (and Joss) get away with their line because: 1. the situation has no sexual connotations at all, 2. Mal's tone of voice is mild, and 3. the follow up bit is about how her cheerful (and possibly non-stop) chatter can get on the nerves after a bit. Especially with them all being cooped up together in space for long periods of time, I imagine.

Note: That might be the original site, but I can't find Jewel and Sean's picture there. Of course, there are now over 13,000 of them...
Well, I didn't have an "ew" moment. I totally got the reference. I thought it was funny.
Count me in with those who had an "ew" reaction to that line. Intentional or not, it had a rather unpleasant aftertaste.

Meanwhile, love the picture. A lot. I love how vocal both of them have been about their support for gay rights (at least over twitter). I love when my fave celebrities stand up for the right things, especially publically. (Sean, Jewel, Amber, Eliza, etc, etc).
Great picture of two very beautiful people for a good cause. Nice to see them together again.
Wonderful shot. I love when actors I like venture into a little bit of activism :)

Count me in as someone who found the oblique reference to Mal's line dubious and not-funny, even though I knew it was a reference.
+1 with the "ew". I had to think a bit in order to see the reference, for the reason BreathesStory mentioned. The afterthought was not very referencey. (And how about equal time for the Doc needed duct tape for being too cheerful?)
The photo is awesome, and they are both very pretty.
*sigh* always drama.
Lovely to see them together! I would prefer less contrast so their faces weren't whited out so much but I'll take what I can get in terms of reunions. :)
I just wish it were possible to find it on the website, as you can order prints, and I would love to have that framed in my house.
See, I think the after remark is just in reference to the fact that she actually has duct tape on her mouth. And the original quote has nothing to do with Simon so why rewrite history to include him. Sometimes people just read waay too much into things.
Ugh. Whatever mad molly. He obviously meant to be a perv. I reiterate: Ew. All the splainy doesn't lessen it. Pretty sure we're over it now.
Wow – just goes to show you can offend some people all of the time. I thought the reference was both ironic and obvious and in the "art imitates life imitates art" category...

I added the "I'm just sayin'" which is a Kaylee expression to show I didn't mean no harm by it obviously.

But obviously it wasn't so obvious.

Thanks MadMolly, glad you got it...

malformed, ah. Yep, words are definitely tricky. And so are references apparently. ;/ Especially when they are just floating out here in this sea of blackness. It really does suck when people completely misunderstand your intentions. It's happened to me here too. I hope there are no hard feelings.

ETA: stuff

He obviously meant to be a perv.

That's uncalled for, so tone it down. It was a Firefly quote that got misinterpreted.
They manage to remain sexy even with masking tape covering their mouths. That takes skill. I know.
Those two just go together like tea and crumpets, like two kinds of chocolatey Häagen-Dazs ice cream ... you get my drift. They're a great team for a great cause.
