Promo poster for The Avengers from The Licensing International Expo. Artwork gives idea of what the team looks like.

I think this is the first real look we've gotten at Hawkeye's costume. It looks quite a bit like the Ultimate version of the character.

The poster's awesome. If the image was clearer, I'd use it as my desktop.
Awesome. I am way too excited for the Avengers, considering it's still a year away.

Although, does anyone else ever laugh at this kind of images? It's stages to showcase how awesome everyone is, but if you think about it, the picture makes no sense. There's no way Captain America, Hawkeye, and Black Widow could keep up with Iron Man, Thor, and the Hulk. I like to imagine that, immediately after this picture was taken (yes, I know it's an illustration), Thor, Iron Man, and the Hulk continue going at a breakneck speed and Hawkeye, Black Widow, and Captain America just land on the ground and go "Wait up, guys!"
Hawkeye looks like he's about to shoot Cap in the back of the head.
Are we taken for granted that Iron Man is the boss? I mean, in the comics he's not but it seems, due to the huge popularity of the movies, he's in the frontseat.
I expect friction over who's the boss to be part of the film, at least initially.

Thor, Iron Man, and the Hulk continue going at a breakneck speed and Hawkeye, Black Widow, and Captain America just land on the ground and go "Wait up, guys!"

The JLU cartoon handled this pretty well. Batman for instance would normally either be in a vehicle or you'd see him being carried by someone but at the same time, the show made it pretty clear that he brought something to the table, it just wasn't flying or super-strength.

(they even make a funny in an episode where he was in the Batwing which then becomes too damaged to fly

Batman, absolutely dead-pan (while plummeting to Earth): Batman to all points, I could use some air support...
Batman (plummets a bit more): since I can't fly...
Batman (still plummeting): at all...
Batman (really quite plummety at this point): Now would be good.

Simultaneously highlights that he doesn't have superpowers and is one badass mofo)

Also, nice poster.
Nice poster.

Saje - That is a great moment in JLU. They handled Batman very well, in fact he was the coolest character in the league even though he couldn't fly, etc.

There was also a nice exchange in the Public Enemies movie where Batman uses a gadget to lower himself down into a pit. Superman gently glides down.

Superman: You know I could have just carried you down.

Batman: You know I hate that.

I have always been a bigger DC fan than Marvel, but I am really looking forward to the Avengers movie since Joss is doing it.
Saje, that happens to be from the episode written by Warren Ellis, who would be making/have made Wastelanders with Joss now if Avengers hadn't gotten in the way. (Everything ties together, doesn't it?)
AICN has a better version:

It's amazing this is happening. Still holding out for a surprise appearance by Wasp. Maybe she's in the pic, just really, really tiny.
The Dark Knight Meets Superman:

Part 2

;-)
Gonna check those out when i've got sound.

Agreed Passion. Maybe because of the group setting and the presence of lighter, more talkative characters like Flash they could get away with making him even more taciturn and sardonic than in Batman:TAS and the strong/fast/flying characters let them highlight his human perspective, deductive skills and mindset. Also, unlike in TAS, when we saw him in JLU he was almost always Batman (rather than Bruce Wayne), all of which contributed to the cool factor.

Saje, that happens to be from the episode written by Warren Ellis...

Figures. Considering his ambivalent attitude to "underwear perverts" Ellis certainly writes them well (but then he mostly writes everything well).
Looks amazing. I hope Black Widow gets some awesome stuff. She's the only female on the team (right?), so Joss should give her some kickass moments. Bring the Buffy to the table, Joss! <3
I really don't want The Avengers to be "buffyfied." Let the thing stand on its own. Everything Joss touches does not have to be Buffy.
But can we expect him to stop writing strong women characters yet?
I expect all his characters to be flawed and strong. That doesn't mean every character with breasts has to be Buffy.
OMG! ROFL

Anuris, great links. Thank you!
I second that Anuris: great links! Thank you! And I love this poster (I'd like to put it up on my wall!).
BreathesStory, embers: You're welcome. ;-) The discussion in this thread immediately made me think of those videos.

I also recommend to take a look at other CollegeHumor stuff (series like Troopers, Full Benefits or the POV videos, there are also many good graphs, charts, diagrams and pictures for example Facebook News History of the World is one of my favorite), many of which is also very funny.
