Buffy Season 8 sketch pages. As seen in the recently released 'Last Gleaming' trade paperback.

"Coincidentally (I swear!)"

Tee-hee!
I think that's true. Wasn't there supposed to be a big reveal around issue 5 that the season was to be called "Buffy Season 8: Twilight" in full? I'm guessing the huge success of the novels knocked that on the head.

What? Really? I've never heard about it. Live and learn...
I vaguely also remember hearing that too.
And had the Motion Comics died?
I vaguely also remember hearing that too.

So, even in comics, RL can mess up writers plans...
There was this coyness early on about what the season title was and how it was quite meaningful for what was to come. You can't know yet, it'll give everything away! Or something hinting at that was said at the time. And then we learned it was Twilight but with no flourishes or anything, it just was. I figure they gave it up PR-wise as a not so awesome coincidence. But it made for totally awesome cover material, later.
"Twilight" by S.Meyer first published Oct. 5th, 2005.
"Twilight" by J.Whedon first published March 14th, 2007.

I rest my case.
What case are you resting? Joss and co came up with Twilight for Buffy Season 8 but didn't use in the title as the novels took off in a huge Harry Potter type way.
Oh, I had no doubts about it being coincidental. I just had to giggle because we've been hearing it's coincidental for so long that you can just hear the frustration dripping off the page.

Robert Frost: "For the hundredth time, the poem is not about suicide!"

C.S. Lewis: "For the thousandth time, the lion is not an allegory for Jesus!"

Joss Whedon: "For the gazillionth time, I do not take my inspiration from teen romance novels! (But Team Edward, for the record.)"
