Tim Minear joins the writing staff of American Horror Story, as Consulting Producer. The series will premiere on FX October 5th, with a 90-minute episode.

I thought this was a done deal some time ago, although the THR link is certainly fresh. Looks like some pretty solid talent throughout that writer's room, this is one I'm looking forward to. I'd really like to see Tim get a few seasons out of a series not involving Joss, too; he's an excellent writer and he deserves it (and, from a quality standpoint, he has earned it several times already).
It is a weird story, Tim-wise. We've known he was involved for some time now. Maybe the specifics are new, and the title?
I just think it's official now that the show is officially picked up. Tim's been on it for a while.
I read a review of the screening, it sounds mad. *Insert obligatory comment about wanting The Inside on DVD*.
The first episode/pilot is fantastic (unless you don't like horror, in which case I advise you to stay far away).
I read an early early version of the script and was scared out of my mind. Had to walk away from the computer several times in the middle of the sunshiny day. Have yet to see the first ep but will hopefully in the next couple weeks. This show will not be for the weak of heart. Scary shit! Mindfuckery at its best. Perfect for Tim Minear.

Then perfect for me.

I have liked most of Tim's work and LOVE "scary shit" will set my DVR.
'a sex-filled gore fest'... so, I guess it's pretty much a 'one-size-fits-all' experience with universal appeal? ;).

Anyway, sounds like a potentially good show. Not so down with the 'gore fest'-part though (sex-filled I don't mind :)), so it might not exactly be for me ;).
Definitely sounds quite appealing. Potentially a bit True Blood, I'm guessing*. Some added Minear makes it even more interesting. If they can get the balance right between the "sex-filled gore fest" and actually compelling story then it could be great.

*Not too sure if that is a good thing, as I found the recent - UK recent, that is - season to be pretty hit and miss, mostly miss.
For horror to really work, you have to care about the people being, um, horrified. That's where Tim comes in. I can't wait for this.
Vandelay, True Blood will be the last thing you'll be comparing it to. Nothing like that at all.
One thinks, as I do, that Tim will steer a true course, unlike what's happened to True Blood, gone far afield from characters many viewers were already acquainted with and into, well, I don't know what land it's gone into. Hopefully, American Horror Story will be refreshingly original.
