Are stars like Sarah Michelle Gellar in Danger of Being replaced by Hilary Duff? "The big teen stars of the late '90s better watch out. A slew of new movie and TV talent has arrived on the scene"

Interesting article but it fails to mention that SMG has Scooby Doo 2 coming out, and two movies in the works. This article makes it sound like most of these "older" stars careers have dried up now that their shows are gone. Considering that not just SMG but Alyson Hanningan, Michelle Trachtenburg, Emma Caulfield, Nick Brendan, Tony Head and Amber Benson all have projects going on right now and several seem to be in demand.

As for Hilary Duff, tired of her already just because of all the hype and I've never seen anything she's been in. My two teenage daughters have seen her show and they are sick of her too.

I like how they say, they are TRYING to make their way into movies when Sarah has already done so. Also if Hilary Duff replaces Sarah or any of the Buffy cast I'll die.
I just got a very funny mental picture of a slapdash "Buffy Reunion Special" starring Hilary Duff as the Slayer and Jason Ritter as Angel.

OK, maybe less funny and more terrifying.
Well, I don't think SMG can pretend to be a teenager any longer, so I'm sure she doesn't feel threatened by Hilary Duff.
AS IF!

prima donna reputation aside, SMG is a serious, genuinely talented, experienced Actress. (despite her mysterious insistence on reprising Scooby Doo endlessly)

Hilary Duff et al, are thus far, just trends. to paraphrase Giles in The Crush, "singers picked for their ability to dance."

I have to say that SMG is one of the few young (relatively) actresses today who I look at, and think "she's going to be a hell of a film actress in her 40s and 50s." She's really got the chops and the presence (not beauty, presence) to make a long-standing mark, IMO.

Not that she won't do fantastic work until then, if she picks the right roles. (I.e., not Scooby-Doo 3.) Ack. Please excuse the Monday morning quarterbacking. What do I know.

Still, the image of Hillary Duff taking on The Master... hee hee!

That article kind of made me nauseous. Films like Cruel Intentions, I Know What You Did Last Summer and The Skulls are wonderfully terrible guilty pleasures. Tween junk like A Walk to Remember and The Lizzie McGuire Movie can't begin to compare! It also succeeded in making me feel out of the loop and over the hill at the ripe old age of 24. Those darn kids today!
I have to agree that while I don't particularly care for SMG, she is a very good actor. If she'll make it big remains to be seen, but I see nothing special in the 'new generation.' Certainly no talent to create anything that would rival the iconic status that BtVS achieved.
