Joss Whedon - the 'A' Magazine interview. Remember that Joss feature that appeared in 'A' Magazine last year? Well an interview is now online and there's lots of good stuff to be had.

I want to know the limerick that ended with "Kuzui".
Love this with my painfully fanish heart.
From what I recall, the print edition shows the Buffy props archive (I thought it had all been sold off). His latest comments about the Buffyverse square are giving some fans food for thought.
It's nice to see a different crop of questions now and then. It made it possible to overlook the "squee-ness" of the interview.

And I, too, am curious about that limerick...
I cannot believe that Joss answered this question:
"KL: Who did you like together with Buffy the most: Angel, Riley, or Spike?
"JW: You know what, I liked Spike. With Angel it’s too “Romeo and Juliet”. Which means, as soon as it happens you’re bored. Riley, you know he was a well-adjusted person who loved her in a much, much healthier way than the other two guys. Nobody wants to see that. With Buffy and Spike, they had a real Beatrice and Benedick kind of relationship, in “Much Ado About Nothing”. I think with the wedding, she would have tried to do something fast, but he would have made it elaborate and done everything wrong. It would have been extraordinarily counter-intuitive, and awesome!"
embers, I know, right?!
Joss: "You know what, I liked Spike."

Me: "Where is real Joss and what have you done to him?"

But, seriously, this is the first time Joss says something definitive about Buffy ships. Even if he says it only writing-wise, it's huge.
"At some point Kirsten Dunst is going to turn into Samantha Mathis and you just have to deal with that."

Hah. Bet Joss would've made a better Little Women.
Eh, it's only huge if you care about this shipping nonsense. Angel, Spike, Riley, Scott Hope, whatever. Haha, if the story is good I'll watch it.I don't care who Buffy is cuddling up too.
I was mostly surprised because I always thought that Joss preferred the Buffy/Parker ship.
I've read loads of comments from people saying joss doesn't like Spike. I think they missed the part where he does.
Gossi, if you're referring to what James Marsters said, Joss pretty much confirmed what James said, that Joss wasn't interested in vampires.
Wow, I just don't know what to say about this interview....oh wait, yes I do.

I (shock!) predict more full out dark angst and horror for Spike and his relationship with Buffy. Yup, I've become a psychix reader of my fluffy overlord. Nah, really it's just easy to predict that Whedon torutre those he loves the most. If he's actually liking Spike now, oh man is he in for a rough ride.

And now for some comic book spoilery speculation .

Seriously, that has to be one of the most fun interviews that I have read. It sent my mind all kinds of crazy places.
He says that in addition to everything else, comics, etc., he's writing "prose." What's he referring to?
*Wonderful* interview - well, I'm gonna love it if it has Dickens and dirty limericks in one go. Yeah, I'd love to hear the Kuzui limerick, too. I'd say I'd try & write one, but trying to make two matches to that name seems like such a difficult commitment...

I also loved this:

"By the way, you can kill a demon with just those words, 'Oh for God’s sake!' "

I tried it & it works. Good-bye, Crazy Landlady.

Oh, and this:

"Everything happens during grief. It shouldn’t, but it does."

It's so banally (that looks wrong) true. Just a few hours after my Mom died, I was on the phone, mid-way through telling her very shocked first cousin about her sudden death, and call-waiting signaled. I said, "Oh, sorry, John, I've gotta call you back. That's gotta be the pizza-guy confirming the pizza we just ordered, so I gotta run."

For real. I almost died of embarrassment afterwards, but my sisters nearly wet themselves, laughing at me. It was a very typical hysterical My Family moment (though my niece was terribly shocked by our hilarity) and thus: reassuring, somehow...

Katie & Joss had such a fluid rapport - it really brought out interesting stuff, from both of them.
I haven't read the whole interview yet but my eyes piqued when I saw Katie Lucas' name and that she is a Buffy fan. Wasn't there a rumor that George Lucas was going to put James Marsters in one of the Star Wars prequels? (I could be confusing this with the Star Trek casting rumor and the backstreet boys being in one of the prequels)
QuoterGal, please give it a try to that Kuzui limerick.
