(SPOILER) Angel's 100th Birthday Bash which was held by TV Guide. Amongst other things James Marsters and Alexis Denisof comment on Sarah's decision not to guest this season.

Did anyone REALLY thing that SMG would go to Angel? It was a nice thought but the main reason she's leaving the show is to leave behind the character of Buffy. So I doubt she's go on to Angel now.

I really think it would be better if Joss and co. put Buffy behind them because Angel is a strong enough show to hold it's own without it's mother show now. It seems sad to me that at a celebration for the Angel series, a character who really only appeared a couple of times is the main focus for an article like this.

As a fan, I think it would be great to have Buffy characters on Angel but I'd be happier if people felt as though the series didn't NEED them. Am I making sense?
It would be nice of her to do so, but it is not needed. I like Buffy, but Angel has always been a superior show, IMHO. I would agree with the above post, in that they shouldn't need SMG to guest, but it would be good. Add some closure to the B/A relationship. (Although Angel has been much better off without her).
I really can't wait until tonight. Mostly because there's a million articles I can't read 'cause they have spoilers for the 100th episode.
SMG's "will she or won't she" routine doesn't interest me; Juliet Landau and Julie Benz hanging out at the party does. I want both of these ladies back, and that they're comfortable hanging with the cast even when they're not on the shooting schedule makes me very happy. The campaign for "Darla and Dru in S6" starts here.
"Frankly, the real star of this show and Buffy is Joss Whedon. If she wants to come and play in this wonderful universe, I would love to have her, because she's a marvelous actor. But we're having a lot of fun, anyway. If she doesn't want to come aboard, that's cool, too."

Such a diplomat, that Marsters;-) Must be every publicist's dream.
I'm a communications specialist by trade (meaning, sometimes a publicist), and I agree with cosmo81...James is marvelously "on message!"

Ocular, I am with you...it is very frustrating not to be able to read all those articles!
Well I think after being a publist nightmare on his first couple of talk show appearance someone must have sent him to class, either that or the editor rephrases the print for him, lest we forget his Craig Kilborne comments from a few years ago when he said there were no black vampires. So he speaks more carefully now.

Good point, RavenU (I didn't know about that incident.)
Angel *is* a great show and *should* be able to stand on its own. It certainly deserves to. Unfortunately an SMG appearance would almost definately increase the ratings, which is something the show still needs. (I wish to God, I didn't have to care about the @$#8&!! ratings...)

Also, it's hard to avoid the topic of Buffy when Spike is around. The Buffy Issue is one of the major points of contention between him and Angel. She and her feelings for them were huge influences on both of their lives. Emotionally it's hard to get away from that in the story being told now.

Plus, I'd kill to see her reaction when/if she finds out Spike is alive.
