May 30 2012

The first draft of the Slayage 5 Conference programme is now available for preview. The conference takes place in Vancouver, Canada from July 12-15, 2012. Anyone else going?

Yeah, yeah, yeah! We can't wait! :)
If I this was closer to me, I'd go. I did a paper on Buffy for school last year, and had such a great time going through all the scholarly work that's been done. I hope some of that Dollhouse stuff gets posted online.
Vancouver is one of my favorite places in the world. Everyone have a lovely time!
My wife will be posting a summary of the presentations she goes to see. If you can't make it, check out Watcher Junior next month.
This really looks like fun, is it possible to attend if you are not presenting a paper?

So they say. I am not presenting anything. I'm just going to listen and learn.
Yes! So looking forward to it. And I'm totally just going to listen to all the smart folks, not to do any work myself.
This will be my second one without presenting a paper (even though I've being meaning to write one for the last four years--I'm a bit of a procrastinator).
I'd be interested to read the Lilah/Adelle paper. And finding out what exactly boundaries of quality within the Whedonverse fandom are. Nice to see some Sugarshock! love.
I'm hoping to go since I live in Vancouver and this is whetting my appetite! Some of us have already talked about getting together at some point during the conference, in the evening. If anyone is interested and wants me to co-ordinate, you can e-mail me at cstsvancouver [at] gmail [dot] com.
An crap, I am going to Vancouver on June 16 and leaving to come home on July 2. My step-son is a doctoral student at Simon Fraser, married to a doctoral student at UBC, and I have been to both campuses (Capria!).

Samatwitch, my step-son lives near Broadway and Main. And my fave restaurant is not Tojo's or Vij, but Chutney Villa South on Broadway not far from Main.
Volunteering so I'm gonna be there. *pumps fist*

My secret thus mostly-unspoken wish is that we somehow get Tahmoh Penikett and Jewel Staite involved, even though I definitely, really know Slayage is NOT a convention. Dreaming, dreaming...
