I, for one, am uncontrollably excited. Joss Whedon on tv? Sign me up! I know it's not his original characters, but he did wonders with The Avengers and because he's having another shot at the world of television, he WON'T take this for granted, that's for sure. I have a feeling this pilot will be epic and fun.

Imagine what this show could do for his career? Avengers is a massive hit, if this show rocks and Avengers 2 is great, Joss will truly be able to do anything he wants. It's an exciting time to be a Whedonite.

The passion he has for the comic books makes the news something AMAZING for Joss. I am sure there are many characters within the 'S.H.I.E.L.D.' realm, and I think it is going to spark up a lot of happiness for him. No more cancellation. No more Fox. Joss is ruler!

I think it's quite possible to create new characters within the Shield universe, and I kinda expect he will.

Yeah, from what I recall, Joss wasn't afraid to write new characters during his runs on Astonishing X-Men and Runaways, so I would fully expect a number of original Joss creations. They just won't exist within a Joss-created universe.

I just hope he doesn't kill every character by the end of the first season. (Side prediction: Joss will kill all but one character by the end of the first season. And that will be a tiny character. Like the guy who makes copies for SHIELD.) (Then the second season will open with the death of the copy guy.)
