Joss makes it big, finally... Nice article about Joss and his growing popularity.

Re: CitW

"The film opened, on April 13, 2012, to high critical praise and made more than double its budget at the box office"

Is the bit about the profit correct ?
Box Office
Budget: $30,000,000 (estimated)
Opening Weekend: $14,743,614 (USA) (15 April 2012) (2811 Screens)
Gross: $65,902,967 (Worldwide) (16 August 2012)

Edit: 'Cause I originally posted The Avengers.

Those are definitely not the budget figures for CITW.
If Wikipedia can be trusted, CITW's budget was $30 million and it took in over $65 million at the box office. So, not quite $1.4 billion, but still pretty good.
Those were the figures for The Avengers. I think there was just some confusion. But, yes, IMDb and Box Office Mojo comport with Wikipedia re: CITW.

Avengers made 1.5 billion. Someone needs to update IMDB.
Also it is rumored that Liongate paid only $20 million for Cabin In The Woods, so they did okay with it once Blu-ray, DVD and more are added in.
As I understand it Lionsgate was able to get the film for significantly less than the $30 mil budget, so they got more than double for their money.
I loved this article and their conclusion was 100% correct: Joss should always be allowed to create his vision without network/studio interference!
He's really made the grade.
Not the best-written article ever, and honestly I do wonder if "Alien Resurrection" was just an off-day for our man, but "He has had good times, yes?"
PaperSpoc ...and the papers want to know whose shirts he wears? :)
" wasn’t until 2012 that he truly entered the mainstream conscious..." Am I the only one who flashed on Joss overseeing all his previous projects while UNconscious?
