Morena Baccarin talks about her hometown of Rio de Janeiro. A travel website interviews her about her favorite places and memories in Rio.

I just dreamt that I was in Rio last night, FWIW. Weird when this popped up. It was not a happy one. I couldn't find the beach.
Spent a few weeks there myself a few years ago. Not only did I lose my luggage, wallet, and passport on the first day, but I got sick enough to be hospitalized as well. Other than that, I had a great time.

Nice! I'm heading there in a couple of weeks for Carnival! Hopefully my experience will be a little less eventful.
Piece of advice - pack a bathing suit, and a few of your more nicer outfits. Even if you don't plan on swimming or sunbathing, there are some clubs and restaurants that won't allow you in without one or the other. Also, depending on how far you are from Rio, mosquitoes could be a problem. In my time there, I spent half my time at the Copacabana, which was pretty much heaven on earth. I spent the other half at a beach house in Saquarema (about two hours away), and I was at constant war with those little bastards. Eventually, I just gave up and doused myself with Off! every evening.
