(SPOILER) Preview of Buffy Season 9 #19. This'll be out on the 13th of next month.

Well, the preview gives some answers about Anaheed's deal and poor Xander.I really feel for him here.

I forget. The previews for Willow # 5 haven't come out yet have they?
Oh wow! Way to twist Anaheed! In the good way, actually. And Xander's story might not end well at all, giving that Dawn's mind is magic as well, wouldn't it just disappear with his body as well?

Anyway... not a single answer whether Illyria's body's back to inhabiting Fred or whatever other awesome twist is there. My prediction: she'll be back with Angel next arc.

So... awesome preview!!
I wonder what will happen if the Key is removed from the container that was specifically created for it.

And if Dawn's mind is pulled out and put into a new body, will the Key go with it?

It would be interesting to find out if the Key has a mind of its own.
...I'm just not so happy with this preview. The Anaheed reveal is just so...'meh'. I guess it would be better if Chambliss made me care about her earlier...which he didn't.

And...before I continue let me just say I am a gay man...but is anyone else just annoyed the hell out of this Billy character? His addition is just so non-sensical. I wish he would just be written off. I'm not really sure what he's adding to the season, other than allowing Dark Horse to check off a box in their diversity checklist? I think Jane Espenson just got a little too 'husbands-happy'.
AndrewCrossett, Dawn is not a container. The Key is her, her blood, transformed. If she dies, I assume the Key's sense ceases to thrive. Glory did keep her alive through the ordeal, after all. And killing Dawn came up as an option for the whole thing to be stopped before it starts.

But if the Key really is an ancient entity or artifact whose preservation is worth the incredible amount of trouble the Order of Dagon went to, I don't think they'd have condemned it to just snuff out of existence when Dawn eventually dies. I suspect that if she dies, the Key will leave her body much as a soul does... but what happens to it then, if it's left free and uncontrolled?

Andrew knows how to take a person's mind out of their body and put it in a new one, Dollhouse-style. Exactly what happens to the soul during this transaction hasn't been explained, but since Buffy didn't turn evil when she got put into a 'bot earlier this year, I have to assume it all works out somehow. (Waves hands.)

But does the Key work like a soul in that respect? Does Andrew have the ability to take the Key out of its current body and put it into a new one, along with Dawn's mind but without any Summers blood? I can think of a whole litany of possibilities for what will happen when he tries, very few of them good.
Well...if the key unlocks dimensional walls...and if Earth is effectively cut off from other dimensions anyway (The events of Family Reunion notwithstanding)...perhaps Dawn-key has been rendered inert...or at the very least, useless. A key to a lock that's been filled in and can not be opened.
Andrew Crosset: My wank is once Dawn dies the Key reconstitutes a bit later in its natural form again. And I don't think it *needs* a mind of its won , but that's never stopped Joss anymore than it ever stopped Sven Skvarniki :-).
Guys, the Key is needed to bring magic back. Where, do you think, that story will go?
Willow has been told that she can only open a portal back to this world by finding a powerful source of magic here to connect with. What better way to open a door than with a Key? That would not only allow Willow to get home, but also allow the Key to connect to magic once again and revive Dawn. (If my theories are right.)

Of course, I assume there would be side effects to this.
Anaheed brags too much on being the "good guy".

Wasn't Simone also in the Chicago squad?
Simone was originally in Rona's Chicago squad, but got shipped off to Andrew's group in Italy before she went rogue.

I think Anaheed is probably a good guy, but there's a lot more to it than is revealed in these pages.

I wonder how many other women got Slayerized in their mid/late 20's? Soccer Moms of Doom!
