Whedon vs The WB. Know your history, a recap of Joss' turbulent relationship with The WB network.

She did a really good job with that.
Reading this article really cements my decision to NEVER watch the WB network again!! Their treatment of Buffy and now Angel is appalling since I, as well as many others, wouldn't have known about the network if it wasn't for Buffy. Yet they keep Charmed....
Wow. Having not seen "The Gift" when it first aired, I didn't know about the "Five great years. We thank you." thing. I'm struck by how classless it is to insert your own passive-agressive sour grapes after the shot of the tombstone.
"Whether the real reason for axing Angel is cost or something far more sinister..."
Like spite or absolute power corrupting absolutely?
Did anyone happen to see Eliza Dushku on Ryan Seacrest's show yesterday? She was there to promote Tru Calling but the very first question was
Ryan: Faith--let's just talk about some other stuff for a second. Gotta clear up some of these rumors.
Eliza:Yes.
Ryan: Faith, your character on Buffy and Angel, all the fans on the websites online, they get excited about different things. So, are they trying to save Angel? Cause Angel announced it was going away.
Eliza: They're trying to save Angel from what I hear. And, I mean, I'm all for it. The show's great and there's so many fans. I don't really understand why they wanna...I mean Buffy just ended and, um, I think people really were mourning the loss of Buffy and now to take Angel away too is a little odd.
She went on to say how people on the show became "dear friends" and "Joss Whedon, the creator, is one of my favorite people".
How generous and gracious was that?
Eliza, if Joss offers you another job...TAKE IT!!! I tried to watch Tru Caling, and I think it could get better but...I'm not holding my breath. I love you, Eliza, but a Faith spinoff would have been so damn cool.
Eliza was on Ryan?? Why don't I know these things?? Argh! I missed his Angel-cast thing too! He sounds like an Angel fan doesn't he? And yeah Eliza at least is being nice and gracious and appreciative. Unlike some who shall remain nameless.....

BTW about this article, some things I already knew but some others...."niche show that appealed mainly to teens and certainly was not "irreplaceable." Arghhnnnn oohh! *Grinddddd*, ungrateful bastard! Buffy put them on the map! Just some niche teen show....grrrrnn

And I remember Sarah threatening to quit if Buffy left the WB. I never understood that. She was basically countering the survival efforts on the show. If there was no Buffy on the WB there would've been no more Buffy. She obviously came around, but I never understood it. Not very helpful to ME trying to save the show.

And Charmed....don't get me friggin' started.
i saw the gift when it first aired, and i remember being really confused, because the announced it was the series finale and what not, so i didn't know if it was going to UPN or not, freakin WB trying to confuse everyone :(
Was anyone else annoyed by the author's clumsy punctuation and less-than-stellar grasp of possessive forms?

*crikets*

Okay, just me, then...
