Call for Papers: Joss Whedon's Firefly. In an effort to redress the lack of Firefly in academic discussion, a new book has been proposed. The organisers are looking for 5,000-7,000-word contributions that fall into the broad areas of politics, race, class and agency. Proposals have to be in by May 1st.

Oh, if only I had the time to write 5,000 word papers on Firefly! I take it my fan autoethnography exploring my love of the show wouldn't count?

edit: Oh, wait! Proposals are due in May, but the paper isn't due until September!! Summer project, here I come!

I wonder why they don't want papers that address gender or sexuality?
One, it list "preference", not the only things it will take; two, see the reference to gender in their examples in bullet point four.
