Angel off the air in March. For five weeks, The WB will be showing the best Smallville episodes (as voted for by fans) in the 9pm timeslot.

If anybody feels a bit annoyed about this, I suggest they check this out.

Sigh. It feels like we only just started seeing new episodes after the holiday break. So much for rhythm.

But, to be fair, looking back at original air dates for seasons past, there were only new episodes in March in season four. Two other seasons had one episode each air in that month (as will happen this year), and all of the others had none. True, they should be showing reruns, but I understand that the WB wouldn't bother to rerun a show that it's not bringing back when it can try to recruit new viewers for a show that they are.
I'm pretty sure that they didn't rerun the show last March either; they put something else in its timeslot. But I know that there have been a number of times during the year when something else played in its place.

This is such an important bit to repeat, too. Let the fans who have strayed get a chance to catch up before the season ends.

*sigh*
i feel pissed off but we have had a solid run of episodes which is unusual...so cant complain. but what a time to do it!?! things are just starting to get drastic...er.
The WB havnt reran Angel at this sort of point in the season, since the second season. In Season 3 it was prempted for first run episodes of Glory Days (which was due to them incresing Felcity's order from 17 to 22 episodes after they cancelled it, and Glory Days was sharing its slot with Felicity). In Season 4 the show was prempted in most sweeps weeks, for varrious films, and the 2 hour series finale of Dawson's Creek and Bird's of Prey. All these premptions meant that there was no gap for reruns, and was due to the fact that Angel was so badly rated at that point that running it in sweeps was a bad idea (Season 4 aired in sweeps only 7 out of 12 times).

There not repeating Angel, because Smallville repeats will do marginally better (or they assume they will, and so do I). It'll actually be intresting to see what the retention rate is like, the only real concern we should have is if the repeats start beating first run Angel. Other than that none of this really maters, though complete faillure in that slot by Smallville would be a very Positive statement about Angel.
It still ticks me off though...I mean come on ...how much more insult do we need?. Since the network is cancelling our show the least they could do would be to let the Angel fans pick OUR favorite episodes for repeats, in case we missed them. I'm beginning to wonder if this is just a personal vendatta against Joss and company.
Aw, I hate reruns. But yeah, this is pretty normal I suppose. Still, that doesn't mean I'm not going to get all defensive about it--after all, we're still talking about The WB, and I've just been in that kind of mood lately. And it would be cool if they let us pick OUR favorite episodes, though I guess this is for the best because my head would probably explode trying to pick a favorite. And my mom already does enough cleaning up after me without having to deal with that.
Understandable business decision, I suppose, but it still annoys the hell out of me. What a bunch of cretins. Thank goodness for my videotapes of the current season -- I can "vote" my own favorites and watch them at my leisure. And fast forward through commercials, too. Idiot network. Smallville. Please.

Has David Boreanaz made a statement about the cancellation? I haven't seen anything. I'd be very curious to hear what he might have to say. I find it interesting that UPN hasn't come out yet and made a definitive statement one way or another about picking up Angel. This suggests to me that while such a move may be very unlikely, it is at least still being considered.
Kinda off topic but sadly funny - Does anyone else find it a bit ironic that the WB is showing Smallville in March at 9pm the same time UPN is moving Enterprise to 9pm on Wed. night.
taking a break off isnt such a bad idea..........gives time to finish up the series and hopefully give certain stars and chance to clear there schedules to do a guest appearance!....i know some people dont want to see SMG on there but i would love too...and i hear that her movie the grudge finishes up this march so it might be possible
I agree Norman...I would like to see SMG and this scheduling may benefit that.
I don't think the airdates and the production schedule have anything to do with each other. Aside from the fact that the show has to be made before you can air it, of course.
Wonderfalls starts March 12th. You're gonna looooove it.
I've been looking forward to Wonderfalls since I heard about it about 5 cotillion years ago. Can't wait to see it. And I'm going to make my family watch the pilot with me, so I won't have to spend weeks convincing them to see the light this time.
I'm really looking forward to Wonderfalls. And now that I've heard Drew Goddard might do some writing on it, that's just even more incentive.

Am I being too hopeful that we might just get a Joss episode, as well?

But it's overkill in my opinion because we have Smallville and Smallville Beginning's, now what, Smallville "middlings". It's outrageous. Show the best eppys of Angel.

What a slap in the face.
I wouldn't get too excited for Drew Goddard writing for "Wonderfalls." The show has to be picked for a second season first, which I don't think will be too likely.
