Avengers didn't break box office records because it had explosions and CGI. It was an objectively good example of filmmaking. If we've gotten to the point that Hollywood is going to run to other markets because the domestic market doesn't respond to bad films... get ready for everything to be set overseas.

Wouldn't have been shown in China though. Trying to get a message out about an authoritarian government that wanted to manipulate and then subsequently murdered some of their own people? Bit too close to the mark.

Well most blockbuster films are supposed to do that. But Die Hard 5 couldn't make back it's budget domestically. Oz might have been ok but got savaged in a lot of the geekier and feminst leaning press so it probably lost money there either in first time views. It made a little over half of The Hunger Games total and barely made enough domestically to meet its budget.
It just hasn't been a great crop of new concepts executed well enough to make the kind of money we saw last year. It's into April and the highest rated movie still playing and making money is the IMAX re-release of Jurassic Park. I'm just saying don't blame the market if the films aren't great.

However...*ahem* He did NOT deny that there are scenes that take place in Miami.
Q.E.D: Avengers 2 is set in Miami Florida. All the flamingo's that have been cast are merely walk-on parts.
Edited for big oopsie
