The CW passes on The Selection. Tony Head was one of the leads and Angel/Dollhouse writers Elizabeth Craft and Sarah Fain wrote and executive produced the pilot.

Not surprised, really - all the reviews I'd read said it was "Hunger Games meets The Bachelor," which sounds excruciatingly lame.

It's unfortunate for "our" folk, but look at this way: It opens them up for something else (better?) in the future.

Although I'm seriously missing having Tony on broadcast TV.

Hard to imagine Elizabeth Craft and Sarah Fain doing something that lame. I wonder if it was just a difficult concept to get across in a pilot?
It wasn't "lame." I read both scripts and saw the pilot they filmed last year. I just think the source material is way too close the Hunger Games.
IrratinaliTV I didn't say the concept or the pilot was lame. I said the comparisons the critics were making sounded lame.

Yoink It got revamped before the pilot was shot, and apparently it still didn't work. Hard to know why.
But Shadowquest the only change I would make to that description is to call it "The Bachelor meets Hunger Games." Seriously. You can't get any closer than that. It describes it very very accurately.
