Who is J. August Richards playing on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.? Let the guessing begin!

Good grief why the shouting?
Holy capslock.
Could've sworn this was a Hulk post.
Sorry, I did a cut and paste from the article title. I'll fix it now.
LOUD NOISES!
Good on spoiler marker. Might want to take out the name for some.
The preview button is there for a reason. I've tided up the entry but please check your entry before posting as our entries on end up on Twitter and Facebook Also link to the original source. And is it's just speculation and we knew J. August is going to be on the show, it doesn't need a tag.

Don't fix it, funnier in caps. And it betrays THE URGENCY OF THE SUSS OUT FOR THIS QUESTION that so VEXXES US!
A lot of people are saying it's Elvin Daryl Haliday, a.k.a. Rage of New Warriors and Avengers fame.
I could see him playing Rage before he plays Cage (tee hee, I rhymed). I have a feeling Marvel'd be holding onto Cage for a Heroes For Hire series or movie down the line with Iron Fist. He's too big of a name to put in as a monster-of-the-week.

More likely, though, Richards isn't going to be anybody special. I think it'll be a while before S.H.I.E.L.D. uses established Marvel properties outside of the seasonal Big Bads, opting instead for more generic villains a la early Smallville.
From the trailer, he seems to be playing someone previously unacquainted with S.H.I.E.L.D.

That's quite a mouthful for a superhero name, though, don't you think?

"Oh my god, the dam's a-gonna bust! Call Someone Previously Unacquainted with S.H.I.E.L.D.! No...wait, too late."

"Look, up in the sky! It's Someone Previously Unacquainted with S.H.I.E.L.D.! No, wait, sorry, it's his evil twin Someone Previously Somewhat Acquainted with S.H.I.E.L.D."

And, you know, Worst.Superhero.Achilles.Heel.Ever:

"VILLAIN: Hey, Someone Previously Unacquainted with S.H.I.E.L.D.! Here's a pamphlet about S.H.I.E.L.D.

SPUwS: Aieeee! My life has no meaning!"
Could Mr. Richards be playing a Super that links to the "Speculative Big Bad"?
I'm hoping for Rage as a recurring role (if not a regular).
I'm still crossing my fingers for Luke Cage. I never liked Rage as a character (a black superhero who's super power is... being an angry LITERAL manchild?!! UUGH...), and I really think he'll be SOMEBODY from the comics. I mean, Joss seems to understand that you need to grab people with a pilot. Don't show your whole hand but give us a peek at an ace or two!

I mean if part of this show's selling point is the world of Marvel, I can only assume that Joss is savy enough to throw us a bone. Luke Cage is a bone. Rage, I had to Wikipedia him just to remind myself of who he is.

I'm with Chuck, hopefully it's Cage and we see him early. I see no reason why they wouldn't start the show off by throwing a hero in who's well known to Marvel geeks but not widely known to the general population.
Yoink, okay, SPUWS is not a promising acronym for anyone or anything. (If you doubt me, say it aloud.) But during the pilot, he would become Someone Now Acquainted With Shield (SNAWS) or even Someone Now In Shield (SNIS) - much better.

Now with 100% more Coulson!
I would prefer Luke Cage to just about any possibility. I also have a soft spot for Falcon because of a particularly awesome book I got as a kid that starred him, but that wouldn't seem consistent with the SHIELD trailer.
