Den of Geek Looks Back at Fray. "Joss Whedon seems to be concentrating on movies now, but if James had his way, he'd spend a bit more time writing comics..."

Hahaha. I was just posting this and then saw you already posted it. Oh well. As I said in the soon to be deleted entry: I can't remember who suggested it first but Dichen Lachman would make a incredible Melaka if they were to ever adapt it into a film.
"the first vampire slayer to be called since Buffy"
It seems to be implied that Fray was the first slayer called since Buffy's permanent demise, but she's far from the first to be called since Buffy was called. That title goes to Kendra.

Anyway. I maintain that Fray is some of the best comic book work Joss has done (fantastic pacing, for one thing), and I would love to see it continued or adapted.

ETA: In continuing to read...whoa, so many typos. Who's Maleka?

You'd think with the vampire craze, the superhero craze, and the potential for bigger grosses by appealing to women with female driven films(hunger games, anyone?) that someone somewhere in Hollywood would be chumping on the bits to adapt it. Maybe its just me.
I don't understand the rights issues at all, but yeah, Dichen as Fray please Mr Hollywood-Don't-Care.
Just reread this the other day. Still as good as it was a decade ago.
Yep, GreatMuppetyOdin, I'm always confused when it's suggested that Buffy's death would call a new slayer. Her death did that at the end of season 1; the fact that she was resuscitated and brought back to life is inconsequential to the slayer line. It's Faith's death that would call a new slayer, although we know it doesn't due to Fray's storyline.

Actually, I doubt Buffy would even be the last slayer before Fray, since that would require her to now outlive not only Faith but all of the potentials that became slayers.
I think the idea is that she's the last slayer since the time of Buffy. If somebody was writing a history book about the slayers in that world, they would definitely consider Buffy to be the key figure of the time.
I think a lot of those of us still reading season 9 wish the same thing re: Joss and comics.
Fray is my favorite of all the Whedon comic books.

I believe that Fray was written before the final season of Buffy created the potentials.
I have wanted more Fray since I read it. It's my favorite Joss Whedon comic. And I'll always pine for a live-action Fray movie, til the end of time.
