Christina Hendricks Joins 'Dark Places'. In the film adaptation of Gillian Flynn's bestselling novel, Christina will play Krissi Cates.

I'm a big fan of thrillers and horror novels; they don't even have to be genre-oriented for me to like them, just well done. I don't remember hearing about this novel at the time so I had to go look it up on Amazon; then I followed the reference to it being One of The New Yorker's Reviewer's favorites for novels of 2009. They aren't the only publication who liked it.

The premise is good so I hope the adaptation is as well, because Christina deserves that (see: many famous actors trapped in horror/thriller film adaptations, like oh, say, Martin Sheen in The Believers) based on the novel, The Religion).

Edit: I was going to mention, wishing that all our Whedon actors were out there getting cast in films more often, that Summer Glau or Jewel Staite would be wonderful in an adaptation of Tana French's novel, The Likeness as Cassie Maddox. All of French's novels are screaming to be made into films and I don't know why someone or many someones aren't frantically optioning them.
