(SPOILER) 'Marvel's Agents of SHIELD': 'Pilot' review. Cultbox review, says not spoilery, but does contain a few details of plot. Generally positive, 4 out of 5 stars. Hi, first post!

Welcome aboard, Englander. The reviewer doesn't seem to be much of a fan of action, I happen to be a big fan of the way Joss rolls out the punching and crashing myself.
So pretty people cant be hackers? Are we taking the cliches and thinking they are reality? Or maybe i just read it wrong. Still, so many complains and still 4 stars out of five, thats good.
I always find it funny when reviewers are overcritical but then go on to give a good score. I guess some people just like to complain?
That is the second time I read someone complain about Skye being attractive and a hacker. Are hackers only supposed to be ugly? LOL , I'm all for a little dose of reality but this is TV after all and sometimes you do you want to escape and look at pretty people I have no problem with that. I don't think it's fair criticism to make in a show that is not based in reality to begin with. It's about the writing, the acting and the experience for me at least.
I'm not going to lie, but the ONE complaint I have about the pilot is Skye. The character is awesome but Chloe Bennett is an awful actress. She does seem "too attractive" (not that hackers can't be attractive, she just looks like she got out of the salon. She doesn't look tired, or paranoid or any characteristic of a hacker). I've never disagreed with a casting choice that Joss has made, but that day has come. She brings down the whole episode.

I'm being harsh and honestly, she can probably get a lot better. I just hope the future episodes focus on the other agents. They all knock it out of the park.
I loved every second of her... in the trailer, mind you. But i dont agree with your specifics about hackers. Tired, paranoid... A hacker can be very much a very positive person, somebody who does what she does because she wants a better world and has a positive attitude about it, not somebody who is scared to death even from her own shadow or is obsessed with her ideals. Somebody who still can be very caring about how she looks. Its diferent. But still human.

Again, you must pardon me, i havent seen the episode, so while i disagree with the principle you describe about the characteristics of a fictionalizaed hacker, i am completely unable to discuss the effect of the character or/and the actress on the whole episode. I dont remember Bennet from anything else either, wich doesnt help.

But its always great to hear anything from somebody who has seen the episode. :)

If i misunderstood you and you havent seen the epiosde either, please understand this isnt a jab against you and i consider your coment as valid as it was before. :)
It would be great to hear more from people who have seen the pilot, without being too spoilery of course :)
I have seen the pilot! At Comic Con. Ask away. I won't spoil anything.
