Anthony Head: slaying 'em in the aisles. Great interview with ASH, very entertaining, it's more about him on a personal level than his performances.

"Oh well," muses the actor in a half sigh."I suppose the company manager better find the number of my understudy from somewhere. Poor bloke won't know what's hit him. But that's life, isn't it? Not a lot one can do about a dodgy train. The world doesn't revolve around me or the theatre. I'll get there when I get there."

Nice interview. Even though she spelled "Joss Wheadon" wrong, hehe. And interesting remark about how ASH was the only english accent on Buffy. Either she doesn't know the show that well or it was a sneer at the other actors's attempts ar british accents. I'm no expert but James managed to fool pretty much everyone in America and I even talked to some british folks who thought he was really from the UK. Guy must've done something right.

And Alexis and Juliette have both spent part of their lives in England so I doubt they're that much off. Juliet's is a bit over the top but then her character's supposed to be. (And frankly I've met people in england who sounded pretty much like that to me, hehe)

Anyway, Tony just strikes me as a very cool guy. One of those people I'd like to have a drink with and gab for a while rather than ask for an autograph.

Gotta say, I miss Giles.
I think maybe the author meant "genuine" English accent, but Tony talks more like James Marsters' Spike in real life and even gave James some tips. It's funny seeing Tony do interviews because he is so unlike Giles. He does come across as a great guy and I'd love to have a beer with him too! It bugged me too that she spelled Whedon wrong.

Sign, I miss Giles too! I miss them all!!!!
I'm curious to know what all the Whedonesquers who live in the UK think of JM's accent - any surprises, or was it pretty easy to tell that he's an American (if the latter, what was it that gave him away?)
As a UK fan James's accent is totally believable.

Many people here affect a 'mockney' accent because it's fashonable so even here there are people who speak like that who aren't genuine. 'Mr Madonna' Guy Richie is actually a private school chap from a very posh family for example.

James also deserves credit for the fake American accent he did when trying to fool Riley. That must have been a challenge!

Indeed BtVS has always shown the English in a good light, even 'baddies' like Travers and Ethan were well done.

Right up to the introduction of that "English" potentital.....
Ugh.....English potentials....and Southern potentials....Those poor girls, they didn't realize how bad they were. Hey, I think the ONLY thing that could have made Kennedy more hated would have been a bad accent....but alas.....
Speaking of beer... Wonder what ASH's favorite pint is? Maybe we should send him some. I volunteer to deliver it. Sigh.
