New strategies at savingangel.com click on both the "download" and "donation" links for more information.

Is it really necessary to make an extra post for this? The banner is on the RHS of the Whedonesque main page anyway.
Yeah, I think it is necessary because I for one don't check the savingangel website all the time and if something new is in the works me and others might want to see what it's all about.
I am not involved directly with the organization (except a fan of ANGEL and trying to help). I just happened to see that today on their site, and felt like fans needed to know. You know, the more cards the better? Still, if there is a problem with posting campaign strategies, I understand completely. :)
You know, I love Angel. I hate the thought of being without a Whedonverse show next year, and for any forseeable time in the future. I donated to SavingAngel.com when they set up the site for that reason.

And now, I'll let Allyson off the hook on this one and be the first person to say it. I don't think donating any more of our hard earned money to the cause will make an ounce of difference. I know that it makes many of us feel better knowing that we tried, even if it were for naught. But IMO, I think at this point we should cross our fingers. And worse case scenario, use that cash for the inevitable 'Thank You' ads if...when...all hope is lost.

An extra week of billboards seems redundant. The point has been made, Reuters/Yahoo agree. The candy bars are a great idea and they've already paid for those. Send post cards and join the e-mail campaign if you want to make a difference.

I hate to be Mister Negativity, I just don't think that throwing thousands of dollars more into the campaign will bring an equivalent amount of attention or press.
I have to agree with Haborym. I don't think we need to keep sending them money. Postcards and letters and flowers, etc are fine, but I think they have enough money now to do the ads and I feel that's enough.

But I thought Saving Angel had stopped asking for more money a while back?. Did they change their minds?
They just updated on March 21st adding this:

"New! Help us raise $3,500 to fund another full week of our Guerrilla Billboards campaign! Due to the incredible fan response in favor of it, and to the unprecedented media attention it has attracted to our cause, we have decided to add another full week to our billboard truck campaign. "

After checking I see that they've already raised most, or more than enough, of the money towards that expense.

"Cost: Estimated $3,500.
Status: We have raised $2,350.33 toward this goal!"

But they list their funds at $5850.33. It appears to me that they've already exceeded their goal by $2350.33. For the love of TPTB, stop people!

I think if they can keep the billboard truck running longer, that's great. To me, all this is basically a Save/Appreciation thing anyway. I think the actors feel thanked and appreciated by the efforts, so why not spend the money to try and save the show(no matter how tiny the odds) instead of not taking that tiny risk and saving for a 'thank you' campaign that is pretty much covered in the current push?

I think people would appreciate efforts to save their job more than just thanking them. I don't take defeat gracefully, or lying down. I can tell a lot of other Angel fans don't either, and I'm glad.
I agree with Haborym and electricspacegirl. I love Angel too. But if the cast and crew have already begun looking for future work (as they appear to be doing),there isn't really a show *to* save.

There is nothing wrong with showing appreciation, of course. And how each person spends their own money is their own freedom. JMHO.
I think what happened, (and someone from the campaign may correct me) but they exceeded the limits with the candy bar thing and went way over...like 2,000. I guess they figure that another week with the truck wouldn't be a bad thing, since it's getting all kinds of press and notice.

I would hate to think people are spending their mortgage money on this stuff, but if they want to do it and can afford it, then I don't see a problem.

The main reason for posting was because the campaign is focusing on sending cards to TPTB I've not heard mentioned previously.
How about a new line for the billboard:

"Nielsen my ass!"

Run that for a week at the same locations.
Go forth and spam, spam, spam, people. Let's make this happen!

Found this on the downloads page. I'm in IT and spam is a bad word. Very bad. Do we really want saving Angel associated with messages selling hard core porn, cheap drugs and low mortgage rates? Shudder.
I know some of those girls from the messageboards, and they just tend to look at everything with "sense of humor" firmly in place.

Besides:

dictionary definition for SPAM:

SPAM: To send unsolicited e-mail to.
To send (a message) indiscriminately to multiple mailing lists, individuals, or newsgroups.
