Pilot news for Whedonverse alums. Anyasbuttmonkey at the Angel's Soul Spoiler Board has conveniently assembled most of the pilots news for Buffy/Angel/Firefly alums in this handy dandy guide.

Only ones missing are Adam Busch for The Jury and Aly Hannigan for Home and Hardware, but those have already gotten their own threads recently.

So far, none of the Angel cast have been touted for new pilots, but I'm not sure any of the regulars will have time while shooting the rest of the season to go up for pilot season projects.

Nathan Fillion is going to do WHAT???

....undercover......in a.....Hollywood High School......Boy if he wasn't already praying that 'Serenity' will be a success.....
Um, they are doing a remake of 21 Jump Street? Dear god.
21 Jump Street indeed! Hey, if they can snag Johnny Depp for the revamp of 21, I'd watch a Fillion/Depp duo!

I mean, I heard Johnny LOVED his time there.....

Come on Nathan....please....do some quality tv.....don't let us down....

But I fear this will be the news in a few months for James too.....or something similar....
Wow, I just noticed EdDantes and I use a lot of ellipses.....great minds.....or maybe just married folk.
But I fear this will be the news in a few months for James too.....

If it is, I hope it's for a Dresden Files series!

As for Hollywood Division , I don't wanna think about it. Oh, Nathan.

Nothing, not a single solitary show, for the 2004 Fall season sounds the slightest bit interesting. Over at Futoncritic.com they keep a chart of shows in development for each network. It's frightening. There's already YET ANOTHER fricking L&O spinoff in development!!! Arrrrghhhhh!

Oh, and can we say Buffy rip off? Clive Barker has a show in development called the Demonologists about a couple who fight demons but are more afraid of their 15-yr old daughter. Also for NBC.
Worried about the 2004/5 season, with a gem like "Joey" on the way!

The sad thing is, everyone, including myself, will watch it, my expectations are insanely low though.

Next season is going to be very lacking, January will see the return of "Family Guy", but till then there's only "Alias" that I'll be interested in. Possibly "Smallville"

Oh, and "Angel" season 6.

Ill start to accept the cancellation soon.....maybe
Gawd, everything is ripped off....it's either 'another cop show', (lawyer and judge shows seem to be retreating), or 'another teen-soap Dawson's Creek show', reality crap and of course the sea of mediocre, rehashed sitcom dung. Let's not forget about those.

And god knows Buffy has created a whole slew of shows in it's wake ever since it got succesful. I don't think there've ever been so many shows with heroic young women as the last 8 years.
What about Point Pleasant? That and Wonderfalls are the only things I'm looking forward to in the next TV year.
Much as I like Selma Blair, there's no way I'm tuning into another David E Kelley disaster. Ally McBeal turns to crap, same with Boston Public...couldn't watch beyond the first episode of Girls Club...what a horribly overrated creator/writer.

All the potential new series sound kinda horrific.

Oh, I'll probably watch Lost. I'll give it a chance at least. Dominic Monaghan played my favorite hobbit (Merry) in the Rings trilogy (well, Sam sorta stole the show in the third one), plus it's been a while since I've watched Matthew Fox (didn't tune in for Haunted). Ian Somerhalder was pretty impressive in The Rules Of Attraction, though he got ripped off on Smallville, that was a horrible mini-arc. Harrold Perrineau (Oz, Matrix 2 & 3, Romeo + Juliet) is always entertaining. So yeah, I'll tune in for the eye candy and talent, and if it turns out to be decently written I may stay with it. JJ Abrams is still okay in my book. I liked Felicity quite a bit (despite that third season) and I've only seen the first seven or so episodes of Alias Season 1, so all this Alias Season 3 disappointment isn't effecting me yet.

I guess I really won't be watching network TV anymore next season though. Giving up on extreme guilty pleasure Smallville once Season 3's up, unless it does a complete 180 quality-wise...Enterprise (yeah, I'm really desperate for some sci-fi. At least Season 3 has been the first year when I've honestly been able to say that it's escaped being called a guilty pleasure with the majority of its episodes) will probably end up being cancelled, and if this mega-arc doesn't offer some amazing pay-off I won't be sticking around for a possible Season 4 anyway. Not a loyal Trekkie (pretty much only liked Next Generation, though I've been told I didn't stick with DS9 long enough to see it improve). Jeremiah doesn't seem to have much of a chance of seeing a third season, and even if it does it won't be with creator J. Michael Straczynski, so there may not be much of a point anyway.

I guess all I have to look forward to, aside from Scrubs, is HBO. Season 2 of Carnivale in December 2004/January 2005, The Sopranos' final season, Six Feet Under, catching up on Oz with DVDs...maybe Deadwood (their new western) will turn out well...Other than that, I guess I'll just try out shows on DVD that I missed when they aired (Farscape, Babylon 5, 24 Season 3, My So-Called Life, Sports Night, and whatever animated series that comes out on DVD that I want for reasons of nostalgia...maybe try to find well-written anime, or only watch movies until TV improves).

But there are absolutely no new upcoming dramas or genre-TV shows that sound interesting so far.
I don't know that David Kelley is overrated. I loved 'Picket Fences', and 'Alley McBeal', while I was watching it (admittedly I did stop watching after a while). Never watched 'Boston Public' or 'Girls Club', so can't comment on those- wasn't he also behind 'The Practice'? Or am I confused?
Anyway, isn't it a trend with Kelley to leave his shows after the first few years? My mom is also a big David Kelley fan and what she said to me once was that he seems to leave his shows in the hands of other people after a few years and that's when they start going downhill. Maybe there's something to that.
"But I fear this will be the news in a few months for James too.....or something similar...."

Speaking of James Marsters, has anyone heard any comments from him yet regarding Angel's cancellation? The only actors I can recall hearing from are J. August Richards, Andy Hallett, and David Boreanaz. It seems strange to me that I haven't seen more reactions...
