How Buffy is influencing Islam. "Now that Buffy and Bart are raining down on traditionally Muslim societies from satellites, Islam finds itself in McWorld's cross hairs".

Is there now a new phrase to indicate the philosophies of
Whedonism? Can someone or some group "pull a Buffy?"
Is Buffy a threat to Islam?? Perhaps the real threat is
an empowered female population.
I love how religious writers today focus on Buffy and other
similar shows in an attempt to place a label on modern belief systems.

Actually, from what I read of it (I only skimmed it), I thought it was quite an interesting, well-written article (actually a review of 4 books about Islam). Buffy was only mentioned in an offhanded way as an example of the bombardment of American culture that other countries, in this case Islamic countries, are recieiving. And it didn't seem at all hostile towards Buffy or American culture in general.
That was a sharp article--good read. I suspect that Buffy will influence Muslims the same way she has influenced young American men--by stealthily exemplifying a strong, modern, feminist young lady and making that image a little less frightening and a lot more familiar.
Either that or she will become the ultimate symbol of everything that is wrong with (and must be destroyed in) Western culture. "This is what happens when you let females drive!!" (Which would be the ultimate irony since Buffy herself didn't.)
I do apologize if I was not clear in the first posting, I suppose it read more like mental ramblings -- however, the point, as Melsta noted, was that the name "Buffy" is now sort of
a universal tag --
I am estatic that Whedon's creation has become a part of the American (and perhaps, the World) Lexicon.
So, my question, then - how does the world see Buff?
Or, more accurately, what does Buff mean to non-Americans?
