Mini-review/info for S7 DVD extras. Beware - SMG snark!

[ edited by silverstar on 2004-03-30 04:58 ]

Scroll down to the March 23 news (just below the picture of The Girl with the Pearl Earring and There's Something About Mary).

Great extras! I'm so glad they decided to fill the last Buffy DVD set with all those goodies.

And the SMG snark was amusing.
yeah the smg snarks were funny. I'm off to pre order me that season 7 box set right now!!!
Oh my freaking word. Please do not miss the link to the DVD screens, and the two blooper pics. The picture of Xander has now made my month.
If you pre-order by ordering, doesn't that mean that you've actually ordered? Is it therefore possible to "pre-order" something?
Please excuse me...it's one of my grammar irritants.
The menu screen for Chosen looks quite funny, I wonder what those two Buffy's are doing to Spike.
Heheh that was kinda funny. And sorry, but to coin a phrase: "They're not wrong." I've never seen Sarah say a single word or contribute to anything for the season boxes. Even in the Once More with Feeling-making of she didn't really make a comment. Never understood that attitude.

David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson did for the X-Files boxes. Lucy Lawless and Renee O'Connor did for the Xena Boxes. And I'll check again but I'm pretty darn sure Nathan Fillion did it for Firefly. Pretty much all lead actors do that stuff for their shows. Ah well, at this point I'm not even expecting anything anymore.

Glad to hear about the wrap party extra. Should be cool to get a glimpse of that. And does anyone have a guess at what Joss' 10 fav eps are? He's probably not going to make all ten his own, heheh. I'd say "Becoming" will definitely be in there though. And the Musical
I have a link to Joss' favorite episodes if you can't wait to know.

Thanks for the link! And I see it's supposed to be his favorites from his own hand. Cool. Yeah I figured on most of these. Can't wait for the Box!
Actually, Joss didn't write The Wish and CWDP. He has said that most of his favorite Buffy episodes are ones he wrote, whereas with Angel, his favorites are ones he didn't write.
Yes, Fillion is all over the Firefly DVD's - hosts the outtakes video & is very funny. But I honestly don't miss hearing from the actors. The more commentaries with writers the better though... it gives me some sense of what life in the ME writers' rooms was like - I would have bid on eBay for the right to just hang out with them for a day as they developed stories.
I would've preferred seeing some Giles and Andrew too in those menu shots instead of the potentials. I did love the one with Xander with eye patch on his nose.

I was hoping SMG would do some commentary for the final season. I bet someday she may regret not doing these things. It was a golden opportunity and a golden time of her life and I just don't think she realized what a phenomenom it was. I thought her commentary for the behind the music special was good though. I didn't get to see the whole thing because at the time, we had briefly lost the WB and I had to wait for tapes and I didn't want to be spoiled. What little I did see came from a VCD I bought from Ebay that had the musical and a bit of the behind the scenes stuff. Anyone know where I could get a copy of the Behind the music special?
Most actor commentaries are pretty bad. Either they just goof off and giggle or just say things like "We shot this scene in 2 days." Wow, illuminating.

I love directors' and writers' commentaries when they talk about how the scene was created, the purpose it serves, how a line of dialogue or camera angle evokes the emotion they wanted. Now that's the good stuff.
I thought Marti Noxon, Joss Whedon and Seth Green's commentary on Wild at Heart was FUNNY! If the actors do commentary, they need to do it with the writer or director for it to work. I hear we're getting more of that in season 7. Yay!
You guys are so mean! That SMG snark was totally uncalled for. I'm sure it's all just lies propogated by the media. Remember, you can never trust what you read OR see, even in official production company releases. I think SMG was airbrushed out of the cast party photos and her voice was probably digitally removed from the commentaries.....
"That SMG snark was totally uncalled for."

Well it was on the Joss choosing his favourite episodes and Potential features as what the f*** would she be doing on those features anyway
I guess no montage from The Gift, eh? I guess I'll have to just buy Season Five in Region Two to get it. Shame, that.

Slightly off-topic:

When Blu-Ray or HD-DVD comes out, I wonder if they'll re-release all of these in even better video quality.

I'm also wondering if they (and you know who They are) will ever get around to making an Angel soundtrack. At least that damned Darling Violette theme.
"I guess no montage from The Gift, eh? I guess I'll have to just buy Season Five in Region Two to get it. Shame, that."

The Gift montage has been listed as an easter egg at all the sites I've seen, so I would guess that the one minute easter egg referenced in the review is the montage in question (the actual montage is only 34 seconds long, but it looks like Zeta Minor rounded all the feature lengths to the nearest minute). If not, it's probably on disc three - notice that the Zeta Minor article says that they only had the sixth disc of the set. Either way, the Gift montage is definitely somewhere on the S7 set.

.....sigh.....we need a sarcasm font....
"Lost in the post"....LOL!!!!!
I knew you we being sarcastic Rouge Slayer but my point still stands what on earth would SMG be doing on those 2 features so why the snark on those 2 items

I can understand it on the other items because you could expect her to be on them
