20 great TV episodes too painful to watch again. Buffy and Angel both have an episode make this list. It's probably not a surprise which ones. Some spoilers for other shows.

Does it make me a glutton for punishment if I can't get enough of some of these episodes? Obviously "A Hole in the World" and "The Body" are two of my favorite episodes from either series.

I do want to give a shout out to "The Son" from Friday Night Lights. Very happy it made the list because, much like "The Body," it handles death in a very honest and painful way.

Of the shows I re-watch they nailed it. I skip The Body, and I skip Scot's Tots.
Buffy and Angel - nailed it for me.
Good shout-out to "Ozymandias". That was an amazing show--and that episode was really the emotional climax of the entire series--but Jesus was it brutal to watch.
"Ozmandias" was painfully brilliant.
I'm not sure I can think of any good episode of something that is too painful to rewatch (painfully bad episodes are a different matter). But there are definitely some painful episodes on this list. The Body and The Son would be up there as the most painful for me. And more recently The Mountain and the Viper and every episode of My Mad Fat Diary.
The last truly painful episode I watched was Dexter's 'Hungry Man'. I couldn't watch it again. I think I had my hands over my eyes for most of the meal. It was disturbing on another level. Brilliant television though.
Anyone who has lost a parent can't possiblely watch "The Body" without become a blubbering mess. ... And yes a hole in the world is a , Oh I've got something in my eye moment
I have watched "The Body" more than once. Though it's an episode you wouldn't want to watch too many times, regardless.

I would have added "A Friend In Need," the series finale of Xena: Warrior Princess to this list.
I do sometimes get in the mood for some pain, and pop in the Body.

Does that make me weird?
@Leaf - The Mountain and the Viper, absolutely. I will never watch that episode again.
NickSeng: If you're weird, so am I, and we can be weird together. Sometimes painful is what you need.

And I NEVER skip either of these episodes when I'm watching through in order. They're so good.
I actually have stalled on my S4 rewatch because I can't force myself to witness Willow's pain (and Alyson Hannigan's wonderful performance) at the end of "Wild at Heart."

So like an idiot I watched the clip from Hole in the World. What was I thinking?
