Touched by Angel fans. TV Guide's Matt Roush profiles the outcry over Angel's cancellation. "These creative protests come at a time when creativity is an endangered TV commodity, with contrived reality trumping the most inspired fantasies".

This was a wonderfully insightful article from a main-stream news source!!!! The word is spreading!
Matt Roush has always been a huge Whedonverse fan/supporter. I agree completely with him that "creativity is an endangered TV commodity." Yes. Yes!

Mainstream news sources are picking up the amazing Angel fans' campaigns all over the place: CNN, TVGuide, and today, NPR. Right frickin' on.

Even if the campaigns have a snowball's chance in hell of recusitating Angel, they are marvelous, indeed. I greatly appreciate the organizers' efforts.
Well the fan campaign seemed to have worked for Farscape, Sci Fi have just confirmed it will return as a 4 hr mini series.
That's great news, Simon, even though I'm not a Farscape fan. I bet Farscapers are rejoicing. Excellent. I would love it if the same happened for Angel. But even if it doesn't, at least we've kicked up a nice, creative, praised, much-reported fuss.
Great article, and it is indeed encouraging to see this in major media. Speaking of which, the Washington Post has a weekly feature called "What You Don't Know about Television" by TV reporter Lisa De Moraes (I'm not linking it because it has no Buffy/Angel specific reference)--today's was about why some shows get cancelled (bad demographics, star decides to retire, etc). I wrote her asking if she could explain why a show with a devoted (and growing) fan base, increased viewer numbers, and critical acclaim would get cancelled in favor of untried and untested new stuff. Maybe she will write about Angel, too.
Thanks for the "Farscape" link Simon, though it's been all but confirmed for ages this is great news, a bit pissed to learn that Sci-Fi are getting it though.
I imagine the BBC will be able to pick it up after it's shown in the States.
Matt Roush is awesome. "Tawdry new time waster" is classic - that's how you could describe practically every new show on TV nowadays.
