(SPOILER) AICN looks at Aly’s New Sitcom, Americana. Apparently all sitcom writers aren't total morons...

There's nothing really new here. I put up the spoiler tag just do be safe for people who are earnestly excited about sitcoms.

I'm with him on the "bring on a Willow" spin-off! But that's probably not likely so hopefully Aly will have success with this. I don't hold out hope because it just seems like a bad time in TV Land. Hopefully it will be a hit right out of the gate so if we like it we don't get hooked only to have our hearts ripped out four episodes into it.
I really don't have any hope of this show being good, but I'll definitely check out a few episodes for Aly's sake. I'm just not much for the tired old sitcom format, it seems like it's been done to death. I prefer my comedy a little more innovative, like Arrested Development (come on Fox, you might as well cancel it too!) and Wonderfalls. Though apparently America isn't really ready for innovative comedy.
yeah ill check it out, hopefully its good.
I've never seen Sports Night. Did it have good writers? These characters do sound pretty cliched but good writing can liven that up.
Sports Night had amazing writers.

I was at the taping also Friday night. It's pretty standard fare, but there are some fairly interesting characters. The actor who plays Aly's brother (Michael Landes) is really good as is Colin Ferguson who plays her boss. Alyson's character was a little too Willow-esque for me. I was hoping this would be a bigger change for her.

Of course, Alexis was in the audience too.
Alexis was in the audience! Awww! Man, I'd go just for that, and to see Aly of course, even if it would be for 6 hours. i'd just bring some scooby snacks.

Sports Night was one of Aaron Sorkin's shows-- which means it was talky, not character-based, erudite, and fun-- these were its strengths and downfalls.

Arrested Development is fun, too. I love David Cross. But I really dont think its as great as it has often been touted to be. The jokes never seem to pay off as big as they intend, and its main allure is the comeliness of the cast and the novelty of the shooting style.
Comeliness does mean the quality of being really hot, right?
Never saw Sports Night but the basic setup of this (Aly's new show) sounds awful run-of-the-mill sitcom crap. I hope I'm wrong. But it really gives me that 'good morning miami'/ 'what I like about you' vibe. No offense to anyone but that's all just the same assembly line swill for me.

Hopefully it's better than the concept.
I hated "Good Morning Miami" - I also don't think the premise sounds that promising but I'm hoping it's one of these shows that's better than it sounds. I saw Aly on "That 70's Show" and she definitly could play straight out humor. I don't watch any sitcoms right now (only watched "That 70's Show) because she was on it. They have just gotten so tired. I'll watch this because of her though - at least to see if it's good.
